Project Engineer

Accordingly, TorcSill is looking for an energetic addition to our engineering team.

Overview

The Project Engineer is responsible for analyzing, calculating, and designing customized helical piers for client and customer projects in conjunction with our engineering team. This self-motivated individual should be eager to join an enthusiastic team, looking for a long-term career opportunity within a dynamic organization. This position is 100% remote with occasional travel to the corporate headquarters, manufacturing facility, and construction sites. A weeklong orientation in Houston, Texas may be required at the beginning of employment.

This position will report to the Engineering Manager and will collaborate closely with other engineers on staff as well as the sales team. The successful candidate will be an experienced engineer capable of working independently on preconstruction estimating and design, construction support, and project closeout tasks.

Major Responsibilities

  • Calculate loads per applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Determine safe and efficient designs given design loads, soil conditions, and site restrictions.
  • Prepare reports and submittals for client approval.
  • Liaison with other members of the engineering team, manufacturing, business development, and customers.
  • Guide investigation of potential work sites to determine suitability of existing conditions for specific project requirements.
  • Support the manufacture, delivery, and installation of products and materials.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License and ability to obtain reciprocity in multiple states
  • 4 to 10 years of experience in geostructural engineering, deep foundations design, micropile design, ground improvement, and/or structural design.
  • Helical pile and construction experience
  • Experience working in a fast paced and customer-focused environment

Essential Skills

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to read construction plans and determine design loads
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong focus on providing quality customer service during all phases of work
  • Experience with various deep foundations design software

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Micropile / grouted deep foundation design and installation experience
  • LPILE proficiency
  • Structural / Geotechnical design
  • Previous experience / employment with a helical, deep foundations, or ground improvement specialty contractor

Physical Demand

  • Frequently sits or stands for long periods of time
