Job summary

Baldwin & Shell Construction Company is seeking a Project Engineer to drive the coordination of materials, schedules, and field operations on our Northwest Arkansas projects. The role reports to a Project Manager and coordinates with the Superintendent to ensure drawings, specs, addenda, and submittals are current.

You will manage file structures, submittal logs in Procore, RFIs, and LEAN planning, while maintaining quality control and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, plus 1 year of experience in construction or equivalent.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Microsoft Project.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up file structure for new jobs.
• Scan documents for cloud storage and manage photographs for records.
• Review specifications and set up submittal log in Procore.
• Materials management including submittals, shop drawings, and expediting deliveries.
• Collaborate with APM/PM on cost and time-related claims during submittal phase.
• Manage RFIs and update digital construction plans.
• Ensure work aligns with up-to-date drawings, specs, addenda, and standards.
• Support on-site quality control with PM and Superintendent.
• Assist in weekly schedule updates and LEAN construction planning.

Baldwin & Shell Construction Company is searching for a Project Engineer who will thrive in our Northwest Arkansas Team.

The Project Engineer plays a key management role in the organization and implementation of the project from start to finish. The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating all materials and equipment for the project as well as reviewing, approving, or rejecting all materials. This position reports directly to a Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Set up file structure for new jobs.
• Scan documents as needed for cloud storage.
• Take jobsite photographs and catalog photographs
• Review specifications and set up submittal log in Procore.
• Materials Management - includes submittals, shop drawings, samples, mock-ups, and expediting material deliveries.
• Works closely with APM and PM on claims for costs and time impacts during the submittal phase.
• Management of RFIs.
• Manage & update digital construction plans.
• Ensure that the work is being built to the most up to date drawings, specs., addendum, standards, etc.
• Work with the Project Manager and Superintendent to perform on-site quality control reviews and ensure adherence to project specifications.
• Assist in preparation of weekly schedule updates and engage in LEAN construction planning.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, plus at least 1 year of experience in construction or equivalent combination of education and experience in commercial construction.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Microsoft Project.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills including presentations, interactions with clients, and with managing field operations.
• Must possess strong documentation, organizational and time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
• Ability to study, understand and communicate a project’s plans and specs.
• Pursuant to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to Baldwin & Shell standards and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Procore, Vista, Docuware, Bluebeam and Adobe Pro preferred but not required.
• Experience with digital take off software or estimating software preferred but not required.
