Job description

We are an owner-focused project and construction management firm helping clients deliver complex, technically demanding building projects. Founded in 2002, we bring together professionals with backgrounds in engineering, architecture, construction management, quantity surveying, and business management. Our work spans the full project lifecycle, with expertise in planning, design and construction management, and financial and risk management. With extensive healthcare experience, we take a collaborative approach to protecting owners' interests and advancing their cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Engineer with 3–5 years of relevant experience to support the UC Davis Hospital project in Sacramento. Working on the owner's side alongside project leadership, owner representatives, contractors, design teams, and consultants, the Project Engineer will keep project information organized, moving, and documented from design through construction and closeout.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage RFIs and submittals: log, track, route for review, and follow up to keep responses on schedule.
  • Review contractor change proposals for scope and supporting documentation, and maintain change order and potential change logs.
  • Review contractor payment applications and consultant invoices against contract terms and reported progress.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and minutes, track action items, and follow up on open issues.
  • Monitor construction progress against the schedule and flag delays, risks, and coordination issues to project leadership.
  • Perform field walks to observe progress, quality, and conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Maintain project documentation, correspondence, drawings, and records in the project management system.
  • Coordinate with design teams, contractors, inspectors, and owner stakeholders to resolve questions and keep work moving.
  • Support punch list, commissioning, and closeout documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Project Engineer or in a similar role in construction or construction management.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of construction documents, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and payment applications.
  • Experience with construction project management software (e.g., Procore, e-Builder, or similar).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
