About the Role
Insight Global Consulting is seeking Digitization Engineers to support a large-scale utility records digitization initiative. These individuals will play a critical role in transforming physical engineering and infrastructure records into organized, accessible digital assets. Depending on experience level, candidates may support day-to-day digitization activities or provide operational leadership, production oversight, stakeholder coordination, and reporting for the project.
This role requires a strong attention to detail, experience working with technical documentation, and the ability to maintain quality and accuracy throughout the records digitization lifecycle. The team will work closely with project leadership, business analysts, and client stakeholders to inventory, scan, classify, attribute, upload, and validate utility and engineering records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Information Management, Records Management, Project Management, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2+ years of experience supporting engineering records, document control, technical documentation, records digitization, utility records, construction records, or data management activities.
- Experience organizing, reviewing, and maintaining technical records using structured naming conventions, metadata standards, document control processes, and repository management practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working with SharePoint, document repositories, file transfer portals, or systems of record.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work onsite and support physical handling, organization, and review of records stored in inventory rooms, cabinets, and designated archive locations.
For Senior / Lead-Level Candidates
- 5+ years of experience supporting engineering records, document management, utility records, document control, or technical data management functions.
- Experience coordinating teams, overseeing operational workstreams, managing production activities, or supporting project delivery.
- Experience developing status reports, KPI dashboards, issue logs, production reporting, and stakeholder updates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Utility, energy, transmission, distribution, substation, engineering, construction, or infrastructure industry experience.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, as-built records, job packages, aperture cards, large-format prints, asset records, and archival documentation.
- Experience with metadata capture, indexing, document classification, quality control, and bulk upload processes.
- Experience supporting KPI-driven environments with production, schedule, cost, quality, and performance tracking.
- Experience facilitating stakeholder meetings, operational reviews, or executive reporting.
- PMP, Lean Six Sigma, Records Management, or Project Management certifications.
Responsibilities
- Review, organize, and inventory physical engineering and utility records for digitization.
- Support scanning activities for standard-size documents, large-format drawings, and aperture cards.
- Validate document quality, legibility, completeness, and compliance with project standards.
- Apply file naming conventions, folder structures, metadata standards, and document classification requirements.
- Capture and validate record attributes including drawing numbers, revision information, asset identifiers, installation details, and other project-specific metadata.
- Package and upload digitized records into designated repositories and systems of record.
- Perform quality assurance reviews and help resolve data discrepancies, classification issues, and metadata errors.
- Track production progress, inventory status, risks, issues, and quality metrics.
- Collaborate with project leadership, business analysts, engineers, and client stakeholders to resolve questions and ensure project objectives are met.
- Support continuous improvement efforts focused on productivity, accuracy, and process efficiency.
Additional Lead-Level Responsibilities
- Monitor production performance, backlog status, throughput, and quality metrics.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings, status reviews, and operational discussions.
- Develop weekly project reporting, KPI scorecards, executive summaries, and RAID logs.
- Provide guidance on issue resolution, process improvements, and quality standards across the engagement.
- Serve as a key liaison between Insight Global Consulting leadership and client stakeholders.
