The State of North Carolina is seeking an Engineer III to serve as a Project Engineer within the NCDOT. This role involves managing the planning, design, and construction of various projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to engineering standards. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in engineering and relevant experience, with a preference for those registered as Professional Engineers.

The Engineer III will serve as a Project Engineer within the Division Two Project Development Group. The Project Engineer will provide supervision and management in the development and coordination of the planning, design, project schedule, and construction of various types of division-managed projects. This includes oversight and review of the preparation of contract documents, engineering estimates, specifications, standard drawings and special construction details as well as developing and implementing measures to control project costs.
The position tracks all aspects of each project from conception to completion including project feasibility, planning, public involvement, project design, right-of-way acquisition, environmental issues, budget, and project letting and award to ensure timely delivery of projects and programs. This position is located in Greenville with the Project Development Unit.

Preference will be given to registered Professional Engineers. Employee will be expected to traverse uneven and difficult terrain. Employee will be expected to operate a motor vehicle safely in all kinds of weather including snow and ice.

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
