VINCI Construction Grands Projets USA is seeking a Project Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning) to provide technical and managerial support on a major design-build highway project in Virginia. Responsibilities

• Lead project meetings and disseminate information pertaining to the project.
• Review technical specifications and drawings and resolve issues.
• Coordinate technical information between/within the company and the owner.
• Develop Work Plans and Procedures to commence on-site construction and obtain approvals.
• Handle RFIs / FDCs and NCR resolutions with the EOR and owner.
• Schedule and monitor program activity to meet deadlines; coordinate with suppliers.
• Create bill of materials referencing project drawings and specs.
• Review quotations using cost and quality data from suppliers.
• Identify and mitigate construction delays; propose corrective actions.
• Ensure project charges are accurately represented for closing.
• Manage subcontractors and change orders on the project.
• Schedule QC & QA inspections; coordinate survey operations.
• Support company initiatives and safety programs.

Job description

VINCI Construction Grands Projets USA (formally VINCI Construction LLC) is a subsidiary of VINCI Construction Grands Projets with its main office located in Alexandria, Virginia. The scope of the company is general contracting and construction work, along with any associated services related to large, selected Design and Build projects, either public or private for which it can bring clear and strong added value. We aim to develop engineering and construction services for large infrastructure projects in various parts in the United States and provide a highly skilled and competitive professional service in construction field.

Project Overview

As part of the Hampton Roads Connector Partners (HRCP) Joint Venture (JV) consisting of VINCI Construction and FlatironDragados has been selected to construct the $3.3BN Design Build project – the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

The project scope across a 9-mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45’ diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America. The project is expected to continue to mid-2027.

Responsibilities:

As a Project Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning), you will be responsible for providing technical and managerial support to the construction operations on the project.

• Lead project meetings to collect and disseminate information pertaining to the project.
• Responsible for technical specifications/drawings review and issue resolution.
• Coordinate the collection and dissemination of technical information between/within the company and the owner.
• Responsible to develop Work Plans and Procedures that enables to start Construction on-site and getting approvals from the EOR and the owner.
• Responsible for RFIs / FDCs related to the design as well as NCR resolution / corrective action approval from the EOR and the owner.
• Schedule and monitor program activity to achieve an on-time result including follow‑up with external suppliers to ensure timely response to action items.
• Create bill of materials, referencing to project drawings and specifications.
• Review quotations utilizing supplier information, cost standards, technical information from quality, manufacturing, engineering, and design.
• Determines possibility of conflicts/delays in the construction process by reviewing project drawings. Analyzes the process to determine likelihood of detection and resulting effect. Suggests preventative steps for correction.
• Ensure that project charges are correctly represented for accounting’s closing process.
• Evaluates that project charges are correctly represented for accounting’s closing process.
• Manages subcontractors and change orders on project.
• Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Schedules Quality Control & Quality Assurance inspections.
• Coordinates survey operations.
• Provides support for company initiatives.
• Coordinates implementation of Safety, Health & Environmental program.

Qualifications and Skills:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in within a construction or engineering firm with a focus on heavy civil infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of construction equipment & techniques, drawing & specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to the project.
• Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to set goals and achieve them
• Strong follow up ability with vendors and subcontractors
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• Driver's license

Preferred

• Knowledge with Primavera P6 Scheduling Software is a plus
• Proven self‑starter and self‑motivated to learn and grow knowledge.
• Previous experience in cost coding, cost savings, budget and other project related financial implications.
• Knowledge of construction scheduling processes and production time management.

Salary Range:

• $110,000.00 - $135,000.00
• Willingness to work in a heavy construction job site
• Exposure to extreme temperatures when in the field as well as high levels of noise and varying levels of dust
• Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on‑site.
• Additional shifts as needed.

Physical Demands:

• The employee is required to stand; walk; climb ladders; sit; use hands, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Must be able to lift 50lb or more
