Job summary

Haler Consulting in Newark, NJ is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to oversee civil site plans from concept through final design. In this leadership role, you will coordinate workflows, manage design staff, and interface with clients, agencies, and contractors to ensure on-time, on-budget deliverables.

You will ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, mentor junior engineers, and drive quality through QA/QC reviews of calculations and drainage and utility plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) is required.
• PE license or active path to obtaining PE within 6–12 months is required.
• 4–8 years of progressive civil engineering design and site plan management experience.
• Advanced knowledge of site layout, grading, stormwater management, and utility design; proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Oversee site plan development from concept through final construction drawing sets.
• Coordinate multi‑disciplinary engineering work (grading, drainage, utilities, traffic) and assign tasks to design engineers and CAD technicians.
• Review plans against local zoning ordinances, environmental guidelines, and municipal regulations for compliance and permit approval.
• Lead submittals through municipal review boards and act as primary technical contact for clients, architects, and contractors.
• Perform thorough technical reviews of engineering calculations, stormwater reports, and plan sets prior to regulatory submissions.
• Monitor project schedules, scopes, and design budgets to ensure timely and cost‑effective milestone delivery.

In this leadership role, you will coordinate engineering workflows, manage junior design staff, and interface directly with clients, agencies, and contractors. You will ensure all engineering deliverables meet core project requirements, stay on schedule, and comply fully with local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Oversight: Oversee site plan development from initial concept through final construction drawing sets, ensuring design integrity and accuracy.
• Engineering Coordination: Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering work (grading, drainage, utilities, traffic) and assign tasks to design engineers and CAD technicians.
• Regulatory & Code Compliance: Review plans against local zoning ordinances, environmental guidelines, and municipal regulations to ensure full project compliance and permit approval.
• Agency & Client Interfacing: Lead submittals through municipal review boards and public hearings; act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, architects, and contractors.
