Proactive Technical Limited is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer in Novi, Michigan. The role leads a team of 3-10 Mechanical Engineers, owning the mechanical portion of complex material handling projects from concept through installation and commissioning.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join their engineering team in Novi, Michigan.
This opportunity would suit an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in material handling, automation or industrial equipment who is looking to take ownership of complex engineering projects while leading and developing a team of engineers.
Reporting to the Engineering Program Manager, you will take responsibility for the mechanical engineering portion of assigned projects, managing engineering resources, schedules, budgets and technical deliverables.
You will lead a team of 3-10 Mechanical Engineers responsible for producing mechanical layouts and equipment designs while coordinating engineering activities through fabrication, installation and project completion.
The position combines engineering expertise with project leadership, team management, customer interaction and commercial responsibility.
Lead and supervise a team of 3-10 Mechanical Engineers across multiple engineering projects.
Plan and manage mechanical engineering activities, resources, schedules, budgets and project deliverables.
Oversee the development of mechanical layouts and equipment designs for automated material handling systems.
Coordinate engineering activities associated with design, fabrication, operation and installation.
Act as a technical liaison between customers, suppliers, engineering departments and other areas of the business.
Ensure designs and project deliverables comply with contractual documents, specifications and customer requirements.
Determine engineering resource requirements and allocate workloads to achieve project milestones.
Monitor and document changes to project scope.
Support the resolution of technical and project-related issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Work closely with Sales to develop new opportunities, including estimating and supporting new project proposals.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline and experience.
Minimum 7 years' experience in lead design and estimating of industrial equipment.
Experience within one or more of the following areas: material handling, robotics, automation, unit handling, conveyor systems, electrified monorails or industrial manufacturing equipment.
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience, ideally managing engineering teams across multiple projects.
Strong understanding of mechanical equipment design and engineering principles.
Experience managing engineering resources, schedules, budgets and technical deliverables.
Knowledge and experience using CAE equipment and engineering tools.
Strong customer and supplier communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities within a project-driven engineering environment.
Willingness to travel up to approximately 25%.
