Project Engineer

Division/Department: Pork

Location: Marshalltown

Job title: Project Engineer

Reports to: Ron Hesse

Salaried Grade : Exempt

Type of position: Full-time

Hours: Flexible as needed or required

Work 40+ hours per week in office and plant facilities. Weekends included.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering
• Previous Experience in construction, mechanical contract work, or any building trades.
• Computer Skills, including knowledge of spreadsheets, and drafting programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize and coordinate large projects.

Duties

• Coordinate efforts of contractors involved with finishing construction of new or redesignated areas for plant facility while managing projects being on time, on budget and to specification
• Participate in design and layout aspects of special projects. Change to: Lead efforts pertaining to design and layout of special projects
• Obtain competitive bids for future projects.
• Assign necessary personnel to designated areas for completion of projects.
• Arrange to have appropriate records prepared and maintained.
• Attend meetings as needed or called.
• Frequent communication with maintenance, purchasing, production, storeroom, and other departments involved with any aspect of special projects.
• Perform various other duties as needed or assigned.
• Lead the efforts to complete Capital Planning
• Know the cost of the project in every phase
• Understand MOC and how it works
• Be able to work any shift as needed
• Able to read blue prints and understand them.
• Possible exposure to slippery floors, extreme temperature variations, loud noise, chemicals, sharp objects (knives), machinery, and vehicles. smell with lots of blood
