Job summary

The Davis Companies Inc. is seeking a Project Design Engineer to own electromechanical product designs across their lifecycle, from concept through production support and future NPI activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required.
• 3+ years of mechanical design, product engineering, sustaining engineering, or product development experience in manufacturing.
• Strong SolidWorks experience including assemblies, drawings, configurations, and BOM management.
• Experience with engineering change management (ECR/ECO).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal, castings, welding, and assembly.
• Experience supporting electromechanical products.
• Understanding of product lifecycle management and product configuration control.
• Familiarity with ERP and PDM systems.
• Experience with DFM, Lean Manufacturing, VAVE, or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed product design and product realization activities using SolidWorks.
• Own engineering changes (ECR/ECO), product updates, and sustaining engineering initiatives.
• Develop and maintain drawings, assemblies, BOMs, and product documentation.
• Support manufacturing by troubleshooting production issues and implementing design improvements.
• Create and release customer-specific product configurations and variants.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Management teams.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) scale-up activities and future product enhancements.
• Drive value engineering, cost reduction, and continuous improvement projects.
• Ensure product data accuracy across CAD, PDM, ERP, and related systems.
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve quality, cost, and manufacturability.
