Job summary

American Bridge Company is seeking a Project Engineer for the Wolf Creek Dam Project in Kentucky. This marine-based structural steel refurbishment role involves planning and executing construction activities, supporting superintendents, and managing subcontractors.

Qualifications

Job description

The Wolf Creek Dam Project is a marine based structural steel and machinery refurbishment job. The construction activities include AWS D1.5 field welding of Spillway Gate, unique temporary hoisting systems and complex planning. Construction operations began in 2024 and are scheduled to be completed in 2028.

Responsibilities

The Project Engineer is primarily responsible for the planning and execution of construction activities. From developing construction work plans to supporting Superintendents and Foremen in the field, the Project Engineer will coordinate with Safety and Quality employees to ensure operations meet AB and Owner requirements. The Project Engineer delegates planning and execution tasks to (2) or more Field Engineers.

Secondary Responsibilities
  • The Project Engineer will coordinate with major Subcontractors and Suppliers. This includes managing schedule and delivery expectations, submittals, onsite work, change orders, invoices and any discrepancies.
  • The Project Engineer will support the Project Manager’s cost control responsibilities. These include documenting and maintaining quantity and production tracking, cost forecasts, and Look Ahead activity schedules.
  • The Project Engineer will mentor Field Engineers and Interns, this includes being proactive on Safety and Quality Assurance and provide areas for Field Engineers to expand their experiences.
Requirements
  • (5) Years minimum in heavy civil construction serving as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or similar role.
