Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support the Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer on a dedicated project in Hyrum, UT. You will assist with day‑to‑day project management, coordinate with owners, design partners, subcontractors, and the workforce, and help ensure schedules, RFIs, and shop drawings are properly managed.

This role emphasizes safety, quality control, and effective communication, with opportunities to participate in meetings, control costs, and maintain

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in construction.
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Knowledgeable in Primavera.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Support a team consisting of Project Manager, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and other staff.
  • Build relationships and communicate with owners, design partners, subcontractors, & workforce.
  • Review shop drawing, submittals and schedules, and process RFIs.
  • Monitoring the quality control, safety and environmental programs.
  • Understand and assist with project layout.
  • Identify critical work items, and procure long-lead items.
  • Assist with monthly billings, cash flow projections, and process change orders.
  • Manage document control including submittals schedules, contract documents, and shop drawings.
  • Assist with delivery, inventory, and warehousing of materials and equipment.
  • Resolve field problems and conflicts with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce.
  • Instill safety as a top priority.
  • Maintaining as-built drawings & manuals.
  • Attend and/or lead meetings.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

The Project Engineer will assist and support the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Engineer as well as the project staff in the technical day-to-day project management responsibilities of a specific project.

Essential Functions
  • Support a team consisting of Project Manager, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and other staff

  • Review shop drawing, submittals and schedules, and process RFIs
  • Monitoring the quality control, safety and environmental programs
  • Understand and assist with project layout

Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivations skills
  • Time Management, multitasking, and prioritization are crucial
  • Possess high attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent experience
  • Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control and administration, including Microsoft Applications and Outlook
  • Knowledgeable in Primavera
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
Working Conditions

Location – This project is located in Hyrum, UT. Subsequent projects will be nationally based.

Travel – This role will be expected to travel to project locations and regional offices

Construction site environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels.
