Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a Project/Contract Manager for our diverse, nationwide projects, with initial assignment in Utah. The role focuses on contract management, budgeting, and coordination with clients and subcontractors to ensure project success.

You’ll support operations with constructability input and scheduling oversight. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years in construction or a related degree, strong communication skills, and proficiency in project controls software.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in construction or a related degree.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and motivated.
  • Time management, multitasking, and prioritization.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Proficient in project control software; Primavera preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Contract management: reviews design, contract and bid documents, subcontracts, permits.
  • Communicates with clients, subcontractors, vendors and stakeholders under Project Manager supervision.
  • Oversees project budget, tracks costs, and shares financial data with operations team.
  • Provides technical support to operations, conducts constructability reviews, ensures compliance with codes/drawings.
  • Oversees construction progress and scheduling with teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Leads delegation of tasks based on team members’ skills and capabilities.
  • Assists with inspection and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Contract management functions: Reviews design, contract and bid documents, bid analysis, reviews subcontracts and material contracts, permit processing
  • Communication functions: Conducts regular meetings with clients, subcontractors, vendors and key stakeholders to ensure clarity under the supervision of the Project Manager
  • Financial Management functions: Oversees project budget, maintains budgets and makes changes accordingly, monitors performance and analysis of cost and budget, shares information collaboratively with operations team
  • Operational Planning and Execution functions: Provides technical support to operations team, constructability reviews, offers technical information to the project team to ensure work complies with applicable codes, drawings and specifications, assists in pre-planning functions of the project
  • Scheduling functions: Oversees construction progress and schedule, collaborates with operations, subcontractors, vendors and clients to ensure clarity of overall project progress
  • Leadership functions: Delegates applicable tasks to team members according to their individual skill sets, experience and capabilities
  • Compliance functions: Assists with inspection and documentation of all work to assure compliance with plans, specifications and applicable regulations
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in construction or bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivations skills
  • Time management, multitasking, and prioritization are crucial
  • Possess high attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control and administration, including Microsoft Applications and Outlook
  • Knowledgeable in Primavera preferred
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
Working Conditions
  • Location – This project is located in Hyrum, Utah. Subsequent projects will be nationally based.
  • Travel – This role will be expected to travel to project locations and regional offices
  • Construction site environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels.
