The Project Engineer is based on the jobsite and assists the Site Manager and Project Manager/Director with coordination of the planning, schedule, earned value management, equipment and the technical requirements of a project with the goal of bringing the project in on time and under budget.
This position reports directly to the Site Manager (on the assigned project) and indirectly to the Director, Project Controls.
Major Responsibilities include the following:
- Firmly establish and embrace a Company Culture grounded with complete and timely Execution.
- Directly responsible for Earned Value Management including:
- Audit claimed execution quantities weekly to ensure accuracy of reporting
- Update and analyze weekly progress from all disciplines
- Daily progress updates
- Directly responsible for Work Package development:
- Assemble and maintain the Work Packages with site supervision/management for all disciplines as required. Site Manager or Superintendent responsible for providing exact scope delineation of each Work Package
- Perform a weekly field audit of all Work Packages being actively worked on to ensure the current set of drawings are being utilized
- Responsible for compiling and management of all turnover data (Forms, Packages, MTRs, etc.)
- Directly responsible for the Development of Turnover Books:
- Ownership role for the on-site development, daily/weekly management of turnover books. Should have a thorough understanding of the contractual requirements for turnover. Joint effort with the Quality Manager.
- Assists the Quality department to develop the process for capturing and maintaining As-Built drawings
- Directly Responsible for Subcontractor Coordination Meetings:
- Subcontractor Meeting/3 Week Look Ahead – Ownership role of coordinating weekly Subcontractor meetings led by the Site Manager
- Perform a weekly audit of the Subcontractor’s drawing log with Owner/Engineer’s list
- Review and audit of subcontractor’s EVM data.
- Directly Responsible for RFIs, Submittals, and correspondence:
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all RFI’s, Transmittals, Submittals, and correspondence in Procore. The Project Engineer is responsible for maintaining timely turnaround of Submittals and RFIs in compliance with the Contract
- Audit drawings in Procore against client/engineer/vendor master transmittal lists.
- Directly Responsible for maintaining and updating the Project Schedule and 3WLAs:
- Weekly updates of the Project Schedule
- All contractual milestone dates shall be held unless previous authorization is provided by the VP, Project Management that the date can be adjusted
Other Responsibilities:
- Assists the Project Manager with timely receipt of subcontractor/vendor paperwork (Submittals, turnover books, as-builts, etc.)
- Inventory control, monitoring and tracking of equipment and resources
- Coordinating and reviewing of drawings, submissions, specifications, changes and document control
- Assist in communicating / coordinating with each vendor on a weekly basis to check status of fabrication and delivery
- Assist with material / subcontractor procurement and expediting, including timely gathering and distributing of Subcontractor and Vendor submittals utilizing Procore
