Job summary

Pacific Marine is seeking a Project Engineer to join our construction team. This role focuses on bridging design, engineering, and field operations to deliver projects on time and within budget.

You will develop and review detailed shop drawings, manage cost estimates and change orders, and collaborate with managers, contractors, and clients to resolve technical issues and ensure quality. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering and experience in project engineering within construction are required;

  • Ability to read plans and specifications and create detailed shop drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of project coordination, cost estimation, and change order management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge of BIM is preferred.

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Project Engineer plays a critical role in the successful execution and delivery of construction projects by bridging the gap between design, engineering, and field operations. This position is responsible for ensuring that all engineering aspects of a project are accurately developed, coordinated, and implemented according to project specifications and timelines. The Project Engineer will oversee the preparation and review of detailed shop drawings, cost estimations, and change orders to maintain project budgets and schedules. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, contractors, and clients, is essential to resolve technical issues and optimize project outcomes. Ultimately, the Project Engineer ensures that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards within the construction industry in the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and coordinate detailed engineering designs and shop drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Prepare and manage cost estimations and budgets, including tracking and processing change orders to control project financials.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to facilitate effective communication and resolve technical challenges.
  • Utilize project management tools such as Microsoft Project to monitor project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify that engineering designs are implemented correctly and to address any on-site issues promptly.

Qualifications (minimum):

  • Proficiency in understanding plans and specifications documents and the ability to create and interpret detailed shop drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of project coordination, cost estimation, and change order management.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project.

****Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing computer-based work.

  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and telephones.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry office materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
