Role Summary

The Project Engineer (with some traveling as needed) will learn Welty processes and tools and develop professional skills while assisting from the estimating phase through project completion.

Key Role Responsibilities
  • Autonomy and Decision Making: Makes decisions on routine matters, provides recommendations to supervisor and refers all exceptions to supervisors.
  • Career Path: Sr. Project Engineer.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining Project Schedule.
  • Create Request for Quotations, collect and qualify quotations, tabulate quotations, for PM’s approval for all Requests for Proposal.
  • Assist Project Manager/Superintendent in creating RFI’s, FWD,s and Bulletins.
  • Assist Project Manager/Superintendent with Scope of Work changes.
  • Request Bid Evaluations.
  • Utilize the project management software.
  • Create and distribute Project Meeting Minutes.
  • Maintain subcontractor list as assigned for bidding utilizing the Company’s selected computer program(s).
  • Transmits invitation to bid letters using current methodologies as directed.
  • Assist Estimator / Project Manager in tracking bidders.
  • Assemble Scope of Work Book on a project by project basis. Sends Bid Documents out for printing and distributes to Subcontractors.
  • Contact unsuccessful bidders to secure return of Bid Documents books.
  • Transmit submittals to Architects and transmits submittals back to subcontractors after they have been approved by the Architect.
  • Track and file Certified Payroll reports by project as required.
  • Scan and file project progress photos.
  • Draft and/or otherwise prepare memoranda and bulletins on project changes and transmit to appropriate subcontractor.
  • Assist in creating presentation materials.
  • Assist in the compilation of the Monthly Progress Reports as directed.
  • Assist in taking Meeting Minutes as directed.
  • Perform any other task or duty as may be directed by Project Managers or the Office Manager.

  • Proficiency in required construction technology.
  • Knowledge of the means and methods of construction management.
  • Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.
  • Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred).
  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
  • 0-2 years of PE/construction experience (Preferred).
Certifications and Professional Affiliations
  • Successful completion of company training and role‑specific professional development coursework, within required timeframe (Required).
  • Successful completion and maintenance of First Aid Certification, CPR (Required).
  • All OSHA training required to supervise project.
Work Environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • This is a traveling role and the individual will need to travel out of state for periods of time to complete projects as necessary.
  • Must be willing to work non‑traditional hours to meet project demands.
  • Normal office/climate controlled environment, but may also be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
  • Frequent activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen.
  • Occasional activity: Standing, Walking, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling, Climbing.
