Job summary

Performance Contracting Group is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for its Detroit operations based in Novi, MI. The Project Engineer will be responsible for labor control, RFIs and submittals, takeoffs, scheduling, punch lists, and QA/QC support on multiple projects.

This safety sensitive role requires at least 2 years of construction project experience, proficiency with MS Office, and the ability to read drawings and specifications. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience supporting or managing construction projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask on multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform labor control on assigned projects, including setup and maintenance.
  • Prepare RFIs and submittals.
  • Quantitative takeoffs to verify estimates, order materials, and price change orders.
  • Create and implement job schedules and coordinate with field supervisors and foremen.
  • Create and manage punch lists and job closeout documentation.
  • Support QA/QC measures in the project.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Performance Contracting is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for its Detroit 110operations based in Novi, MI. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Perform labor control on assigned projects, including setup and maintenance.
  • Prepare RFI’s and submittals.
  • Quantitative takeoffs to verify estimates, order materials, and price change orders.
  • Create and implement job schedules and coordinate with field supervisors and foremen.
  • Create and manage punch lists and job closeout documentation.
  • Support the Quality Control measures outlined in the QA/QC program.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned.

This position is safety sensitive.

Basic Requirements
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience supporting or managing construction projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g., Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Possess a clear understanding of how to read and interpret specifications and drawings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn new skills by engaging in the technical job functions and applying new skills as they're learned.
  • Strong customer service skills and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask while handling multiple projects concurrentl.y
  • Motivated self-starter with strong work ethic and a willingness to take initiative.
  • Works well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Possess critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or related discipline.
  • Experience with interior scopes of construction preferred.
  • Experience managing specialty scopes of construction.
  • OSHA certification.
  • Local to the Detroit metro area.
