Job summary

Ellipsis Construction in Denver is seeking a Project Engineer to support field operations on fast-paced commercial TI projects, often with ~6-week schedules. You will help set projects up for success from day one, coordinate documentation, and assist with bids and business development efforts.

This is a field-forward role where you will learn directly from the Superintendent on-site, supporting coordination, documentation, and day-to-day execution while growing toward deeper project leadership

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience in commercial construction or internships in related fields.
• Ability to read plans, specs, and scopes of work, with eagerness to learn quickly.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail across priorities.
• Customer service mindset, responsive, professional, and clear communicator.
• Comfortable working in both office/admin settings and active job site environments.
• Familiarity with common construction and business tools.

Responsibilities

• ProjectEngineering & FieldSupport: learn field operations with the Superintendent and support day-to-day field needs.
• Documentation workflows: RFIs, submittals, meeting notes, daily logs, punch lists.
• Support closeout readiness: turnover docs, warranties, and O&Ms.
• Customer service & relationship management: professional client interactions and proactive updates.
• Estimating & BD support: assist with takeoffs, scope reviews, and bid packages.

PositionSummary:

TheProjectEngineersupportsprojectexecutiononfast-pacedcommercialTIprojects(oftencompressedschedulesasshortas~6weeks),helpingensureprojectsaresetupforsuccessfromdayone.Therolemayalsoinvolvesupportingtheteamonbidsandassistingwithbusinessdevelopmentefforts.

KeyResponsibilities:

ProjectEngineering&FieldSupport

• PartnercloselywiththeSuperintendenttolearnfieldoperations:sequencing,logistics,coordination,andqualitycontrol.
• Supportday-to-dayfieldneedssuchasdeliveries,vendorcoordination,schedulelook-aheads,andissuetracking.
• Assistwithprojectdocumentationworkflows(RFIs,submittals,meetingnotes,dailylogs,punchlists)andhelpkeepsystemscleanandcurrent.
• Helpensureworkalignswithdrawings/specsandthatquestionsgetresolvedquicklyandprofessionally.
• Supportcloseoutreadiness:punchcompletiontracking,turnoverdocumentation,warranties/O&Ms,etc.

CustomerService&RelationshipManagement

• Deliverahigh-touch,professionalexperienceforclients,architects,andtradepartners,especiallywhenschedulesaretightandprioritiesshift.
• Communicateclearlyandpromptly;setexpectationsearlyandprovideproactiveupdates.
• RepresentEllipsisConstructionwithacalm,solutions-firstapproach,especiallyinthefieldandduringhigh-pressuremoments.

Estimating&BusinessDevelopmentSupport

• Assistwithquantitytakeoffs,scopereview,andestimatepreparationforcommercialTIprojectsundertheguidanceofseniorteammembers.
• Supportsubcontractorandvendoroutreach,includingassemblingbidpackages,sendingInvitationstoBid(ITBs),andtrackingcoverage.
• Helplevelbidsandflaggapsorexclusionstosupportcomplete,apples-to-applescomparisons.
• Participateinpre-bidsitewalksandexistingconditionsreviewstohelpreducedownstreamsurprises.
• Assistwithproposalinputs(asneeded):scopenarratives,scheduleassumptions,qualifications,andpricingapproach.
• Helpmaintainestimatingtemplates,historicalcostdata,andlessonslearned.
• Mayassistwithbusinessdevelopmentefforts,suchaspreparingqualificationpackages,RFP/RFQresponses,andprojectwrite-ups.

OperationalSupporttoOwner/CompanyGrowth

• AssisttheOwnerwithoperationalitemsthatstrengthendelivery(examplesmayincludevendoronboarding,processdocumentation,template/toolimprovements,andprocurementsupport).
• HelpreinforceconsistentuseofEllipsisConstructionstandards,checklists,andtechnologytools.
• Suggestpracticalimprovementsthatreducerework,improvecoordination,andelevatetheclientexperience.
• Representthecompanyprofessionallyatindustry,recruiting,andcommunityevents.

RequiredQualifications:

• 0–2yearsofexperienceincommercialconstruction,includinginternshipsorco-ops;recentgraduatesinconstructionmanagement,engineering,architecture,orarelatedfieldareencouragedtoapply.
• Basicabilitytoreadplans,specifications,andscopesofwork(orastrongdesiretolearnquickly),andcomfortaskingsmartquestionsearly.
• Strongorganizationalskillsandfollow-through:abletomanagemultipleprioritieswithoutdroppingdetails.

• Interestinconstructiontechnologyandcontinuousimprovement.
