Job summary

AEC, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to support commercial construction and interiors projects in Dallas, onsite. This full-time role partners with Project Managers to track ambitious builds, manage submittals, and keep schedules on track.

You will review drawings and contracts, coordinate shop drawings, and draft change orders while maintaining clear client communications and field updates. A collaborative, growth-focused environment awaits.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience supporting commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and locate project scope within complex construction drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven track record of tracking multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong motivation to learn, ask questions, and offer support to team members.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction drawings, project contracts, and initial submittal data to identify complete scopes of work.
  • Coordinate and verify shop drawings to ensure total accuracy relative to bid specifications and client agreements.
  • Monitor active project schedules, track critical deadlines, and proactively alert Project Managers to potential areas of concern.
  • Draft detailed Change Orders in Sage construction software to account for scope revisions accurately.
  • Collaborate directly with Project Managers to manage client communications, daily project updates, and field reports.
  • Verify that all specialized interior installation materials are ordered and delivered on schedule before installation.

  • Practical background or experience in commercial carpentry, trade estimation, or interior finishes.
