Job summary

KFM Engineering & Design, based in Dallas, Texas, is seeking a Project Engineer to contribute to impactful land development and infrastructure projects. This mid-level position requires supporting and leading the design, permitting, and execution of civil engineering projects ranging from site development to utility layout.

Responsibilities

Job description

In this mid-level role, you will be responsible for supporting and leading the design, permitting, and execution of civil engineering projects including site development, utility layout, and grading and drainage plans.

Responsibilities
  • Design civil engineering projects including grading, drainage, utility, and roadway plans.
  • Prepare construction documents and technical reports in accordance with applicable standards and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, surveyors, and other stakeholders to ensure design accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Assist in the preparation and submittal of permitting documentation.
  • Use Civil 3D to create alignments, surfaces, corridors, and profiles for design layouts.
  • Coordinate with municipalities and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Perform engineering calculations and quantity takeoffs.
  • Contribute to the QA/QC process and provide feedback on design improvements.
  • Participate in field investigations and site visits.
Qualifications
  • 3 – 5 years of civil engineering experience, ideally in land development or infrastructure projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.li>
  • PE license.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
  • Solid understanding of civil design principles including grading, stormwater management, and utility layout.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
  • Familiarity with permitting processes and local agency requirements is a plus.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience coordinating with public agencies and municipalities.
  • Knowledge of hydrology/hydraulics, erosion control, and drainage design.
  • Experience with GIS tools and other engineering software.
