Job summary

Velo IT Group seeks an Information Technology Project Engineer to lead complex IT projects from start to finish. Focus areas include network architecture and administration or systems architecture and administration, with hands-on Cisco networking and VMware/Azure implementations.

The role requires 5+ years of IT experience, CISCO expertise, and a drive to mentor teammates. On-site in Dallas with strong client interaction and project execution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional IT experience.
• 2+ years hands-on experience with Cisco networking and project implementation.
• Expert understanding of Cisco networking: WAN/LAN/WLAN, Cisco IOS, Cisco Firepower.
• CCNP (Enterprise, Security, Collaboration, etc.) certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project manager to deliver new IT systems and networks for clients up to 300 users.
• Define and implement network and systems architectures for projects.
• Mentor teammates and share knowledge throughout project lifecycle.

Information Technology Project Engineer – Expert Level IT Project Execution

Work Type: Full-time, in-office/on-site (minimal travel required)

Compensation: $90,000 - $130,000 base salary plus incentive bonuses

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will be one who is always gaining expertise in their trade, regularly improving processes, and seeking to define the correct method for network architecture and implementation. An independent worker, they have the expertise to see a project through from start to finish with little reliance on others yet are willing to educate and mentor teammates.

Responsibilities

Project engineers typically specialize in either Network Architecture and Administration or Systems Architecture and Administration. They work closely with the project manager to deliver new IT systems and networks to our growing client base of entrepreneurial‑led businesses (typically up to 300 users).

Network Engineer focus: configuring, deploying, supporting IT networks using Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points; implementing Cisco products (Catalyst, Firepower, Meraki, etc.); familiar with Fortinet, Palo Alto, HP Aruba; responsible for software‑based networks such as Azure and VMware virtual networking.

Systems Engineer focus: architecting, configuring, deploying IT solutions using VMware, Windows Server, Lenovo servers, NetApp storage, Office 365, Azure/AWS.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of professional IT experience.
• Strong IT fundamentals: DNS, LAN/WAN architecture, Windows Server, Microsoft 365 systems.
• 2+ years hands‑on experience with Cisco networking and project implementation.
• Expert understanding of Cisco networking: WAN/LAN/WLAN Architecture, Cisco IOS, Cisco Firepower, Cisco Wireless Controllers.
• CCNP (Enterprise, Security, Collaboration, etc.) certification strongly preferred.
• Understanding of the MSP industry and multi‑tenant IT service delivery preferred.
• Implementation experience with servers and cloud computing (VMWare, Azure) preferred.
• Additional relevant industry certifications: Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert; Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
