Job summary

ORION in Dallas, TX seeks a seasoned Project Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate activities for designated projects within time and funding constraints. The incumbent will uphold ORION's safety, quality, delivery, teamwork, and integrity values while guiding project teams and subcontractors to successful outcomes.

Responsibilities include managing project plans, reviewing drawings, controlling costs, scheduling, and coordinating with suppliers and government agencies.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Management preferred.
  • Field/work experience in commercial concrete construction or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in pre-job meetings planning, budgets, scheduling, and targets.
  • Assist Project Manager in management of all assigned jobs.
  • Review shop drawings and subs, ensure accuracy with drawings/specifications.
  • Distribute drawing revisions to PMs, supers, subs; request new shop drawings as needed.
  • Price drawing revisions and field change orders; update drawing log and RCO log.
  • Keep project schedules updated with durations; document delays.
  • Order materials and ensure timely delivery (rebar, shoring, forming).
  • Visit job sites with Superintendents to identify problems and help resolve them.
  • Approve sand code assigned invoices.
  • Track man-hours and job cost weekly for all jobs.
  • Meet with Superintendents to target costs to complete under budget.
  • Assist PMs with end-of-month financial reports and management/audiences.
  • Prepare project reports for management and clients.
  • Coordinate activities with government regulatory agencies.

The primary purpose of this position is to plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates, if applicable. The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion, which are centered on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Teamwork most importantly, with each built upon the all-important foundation of Integrity.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Assists in the preparation of pre-job meetings (examples: plans, specification, budgets, cost targets, scheduling, and others as necessary)
  • Assists Project Manager(s) in the management of all assigned jobs.
  • Reviews & process shop drawings and submittals (including those from subcontractors), checking for accuracy when compared to drawings and specifications.
  • Distributes all drawing revisions to Project Manager(s), Superintendent(s) and Subcontractors; and request new shop drawings from suppliers and subcontractors as necessary to match revisions.
  • Prices all drawing revisions and Field Extra Work Tickets; review with Project Manager(s) and submit to General Contractor or client; update stick set and drawing log with each revision received.Maintains the RCO log and PM Submittal Log for each assigned project.
  • Keeps all project schedules updated with actual durations for each task as compared to the original Base-Line Schedule; document all applicable delays (weather, GC, suppliers, etc.)
  • Orders and ensure timely delivery of materials such as rebar, shoring, forming, and post-tensioning.
  • Contacts the Superintendent(s) on assigned job(s) frequently and visit job site(s) regularly in order to identify problems and assist in reaching solutions.
  • Approve sand code assigned invoices.
  • Tracks Man-hours & Job Cost for all assigned jobs weekly
  • Meets with Superintendents to identify target cost to complete job under budget.
  • Assists Project Manager(s) with End of Month Financial Reports for all assigned jobs.
  • Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
  • Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.

Position Requirements

BS Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Management is preferred. Field/ work experience in commercial concrete construction, or equivalent work experience is preferred. Successful candidates must have the ability to interact and communicate effectively with others.

In Addition, The Incumbent Must Have
  • A relatively high level of analytical ability is required for project efficiency.
  • Excellent computer skills required including Microsoft Office, OST (On Screen Takeoff); and willingness to learn our PM/ billing software.
  • Ability to perform in high-stress situations and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership.
Physical/Mental Requirements

The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done. This individual must also have the ability to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management, including corporate and executive. The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
