Job summary

Confluence Builders, a Colorado-based real estate developer and builder, seeks a Project Engineer to support all phases of construction, handling document control, RFIs, submittals, and field support. You will coordinate with design teams, consultants, and subcontractors to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and eager to grow into a Project Manager role on multifamily and mixed-use developments in the Castle Rock area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of construction experience, ideally multifamily, mixed-use, or commercial building.
  • Proficiency with construction management software (Procore preferred), Bluebeam, MS Office Suite, and scheduling tools.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with daily project operations.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, product data, and material approvals.
  • Coordinate between design teams, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve issues.
  • Organize and participate in meetings; prepare agendas and minutes.

Position Overview

The Project Engineer (PE) supports the project team throughout all phases of construction with responsibilities in document control, schedule coordination, subcontractor management, RFI/submittal processing, and field support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicative, and eager to grow into a future Project Manager role.

Key Responsibilities
Construction Administration & Document Control
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, product data, and material approvals.
  • Maintain updated drawing logs, ASIs, bulletins, and specifications via project management software.
  • Distribute and track updated plans and revisions to ensure field teams and subcontractors have current documentation.
Project Coordination
  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with daily project operations.
  • Coordinate between design teams, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
  • Organize and participate in OAC, internal coordination, and subcontractor meetings; prepare agendas and meeting minutes.
Field & Quality Support
  • Support field observations, punch lists, and QA/QC processes.
  • Verify that construction is being executed in accordance with plans, specifications, and building codes.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and turnover processes for multifamily building systems.
Budgeting & Procurement
  • Assist in preparing bid packages, scopes of work, and subcontractor comparisons.
  • Track material procurement, lead times, and delivery schedules for long‑lead items.
  • Help monitor project cost exposure through change event logs and budget updates.
Schedule & Risk Management
  • Track milestones related to inspections, utilities, MEP rough‑in, finishes, and vertical construction sequencing.
  • Support proactive identification of risks related to coordination, logistics, and design.
Developer-Builder Specific Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with internal development team on design changes, leasing timelines, and turnover strategies.
  • Assist in preparing handover documentation, closeout manuals, and warranty packages for property management.
  • Manage documentation related to construction financing, pay applications, and lender walkthroughs.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with podium construction, wood-framed mid‑rise, or mixed‑use retail/residential integration.
  • Familiarity with building envelope systems, MEP coordination, and multifamily unit standardization.
  • Understanding of design‑build workflows and early‑stage constructability review.
