Job summary

Sagamore Plumbing & Heating LLC is seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing team in Massachusetts. The role requires strong technical knowledge of plumbing and HVAC systems, plus communication, planning and organizational skills.

The position will be based out of either our Hingham or Wakefield locations and involves coordinating with contractors and engineers. At Sagamore, you will help manage project progress, ensure compliance with codes and company standards, and support the project

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction with emphasis on Plumbing and HVAC.
• General knowledge of construction practices, policies, and standards; ability to read plans and specs.
• Excellent communication, organizational and planning skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Review project drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with contractors, architects and engineers.
• Monitor technical progress on site and ensure work follows plans and safety requirements.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate assigned work; monitor compliance with codes and Sagamore standards.
• Ensure coordination among all project participants and that contract requirements are met.
• Assist in pre-construction meetings, site visits, and closeout processes including manuals and punch lists.

About the Role

The Project Engineer candidate must have technical knowledge of plumbing and HVAC systems. Have strong communication, planning and organizational skills. Ability to work in a busy environment and adapt to frequent project changes. This position will be based out of either our Hingham or Wakefield MA locations.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing project drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with contractors, architects and engineers.
• Monitor technical progress on site.
• Ensure work follows plans, codes and safety requirements.
• Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned work; monitors work for compliance with applicable codes, accepted practices, and Sagamore standards; ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants.
• Responsible and accountable to ensure that all assigned personnel are coordinating their activities with other project participants and that the requirements of the Contract are being satisfied.
• Expected to have sufficient technical knowledge and awareness of details to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing in the various disciplines, and to initiate appropriate corrective actions.
• Project schedules and forecasts.
• Coordination oversight.
• Maintain a project delivery schedule.
• Provide weekly project status reports.
• Create and write change orders and RFI’s.
• Attend weekly onsite meetings including subcontractor coordination meeting, owner/architect meeting, and provide follow up meeting minutes packages to the Project Manager and Foreman.
• Assist the Project Manager in pre-construction meetings and site visits with the owner/client to discuss and meet project requirements in order to establish project work plan and deadlines.
• Responsible for assisting the Project Manager with the closeout process including but not limited to develop and maintain the closeout log, complete operation and maintenance manuals, and maintain punch lists.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational and experience requirements include: a minimum of 2 years of experience in construction with an emphasis on Plumbing and HVAC. General knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); Company policies, procedures, and standards; and scope of work, labor schedules. Excellent communication, organizational and planning skills are required.
