Job summary

Sagamore Plumbing & Heating, LLC. is seeking an Assistant Estimator to join our growing Estimating Department in Wakefield, MA. The role requires basic plumbing knowledge and familiarity with NFPA codes; HVAC knowledge is a plus.

You will support the estimator by analyzing blueprints and specifications to prepare cost and labor estimates while coordinating with clients and vendors. You will work in a busy environment, adapt to project changes, and benefit from opportunities to advance your craft

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or 1–2 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with plumbing and NFPA codes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist estimator in analyzing blueprints, specs, proposals to prepare time, cost and labor estimates.
  • Review data to determine material and labor requirements; prepare itemized lists of equipment, fixtures and subs.
  • Use QuickPen for onscreen takeoff.
  • Assist in studies to develop standard hour and related cost data and cost reductions.
  • Consult with clients, vendors to discuss and resolve estimates.

Responsibilities
  • Assists estimator in analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for various projects by performing the following duties.
  • Assists in reviewing data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists of equipment, fixtures and subcontractors.
  • Uses Quickpen for onscreen takeoff.
  • Assist in conducting special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions as required.
  • Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
  • Meets and communicates with project team on how the estimate was devised and provides assistance in transforming the estimate into a project control budget.
  • Assist in organizing and managing a cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
  • Assist in analyzing completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
  • Helps identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
  • Attends job site walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding in mechanical systems
  • Proficient in Quick Pen / Trimble Estimating Software
  • Proficient in Office 365
  • Familiarity with plumbing and NFPA codes
  • Valid Driver’s License
