Location: Boise, ID (Primarily In-Office)| Team: Professional Services| Type: Full-Time

Candidates must be local to the Treasure Valley or willing to relocate. This position is based at our Boise office and is primarily in-office, with occasional remote flexibility.

ABOUT THE ROLE

At TotalCare IT, we believe every client interaction is an opportunity to leave a lasting impression — and our Project Engineers are at the center of that experience. We’re looking for a technically sharp, calm-under-pressure engineer who takes pride in delivering IT solutions that not only meet the brief, but genuinely exceed expectations.

This is a mid-level role on our Professional Services team. You’ll deploy and configure end-user and network infrastructure at client sites and data centers across the Treasure Valley, manage your own project workload, and collaborate closely with Project Managers, Design Desk Engineers, and vCIOs to deliver outcomes clients rave about.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Execute structured IT projects end-to-end — from planning and equipment prep through cutover, documentation, and post-project validation
• Deploy and configure networking equipment, virtualization platforms, and Microsoft cloud services at client sites and datacenters
• Partner with Project Managers and Coordinators to stay on schedule and on budget, communicating proactively when things need to flex
• Represent TotalCare IT in client-facing settings — project kickoffs, status meetings, and closures — with professionalism and clarity
• Assist our service desk with on-site and remote support as needed, bringing your technical depth to complex escalations
• Peer review proposals and support the Design Desk with technical validation
• Contribute to team standards, training, and process improvement through regular committee and department meetings
• Maintain accurate, timely time entries and project documentation so the whole team stays informed
• Provide on-call and after-hours support on a rotating schedule

TECHNOLOGIES YOU’LL WORK WITH

• Networking: switching, routing, firewall configuration

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 1–4 years of hands‑on IT experience, preferably in an MSP or project-delivery environment
• Proven experience with enterprise networking (switching, routing, firewalls), virtualization (Hyper‑V, Proxmox VE, or Verge OS), and Microsoft 365 & Azure
• Strong security awareness — you treat client data and business systems with the seriousness they deserve
• CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ preferred; other relevant certifications a plus
• Clear, professional communicator across all levels of a business — from the IT team to the C‑suite
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing several active projects simultaneously
• Thrives when things get unpredictable — you stay steady, find solutions, and bring good energy to the team
• Bachelor’s degree and/or technical school diploma preferred
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local client site visits

COMPENSATION

$20 – $30 / hour, DOE

Commensurate with experience and certifications.
