Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of general contracting experience on commercial projects; hospitality/mixed-use preferred.
  • Proficiency with schedules, submittals, RFIs, document control, procurement, and closeout.
  • OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain.
  • Experience with Revit, Bluebeam, and project management systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Lease Crutcher Lewis is seeking a Project Engineer to support commercial, hospitality, and mixed-use construction projects in the Bend, Oregon area. This role is a great fit for someone with general contracting experience who enjoys coordinating details, solving problems, building strong relationships, and helping project teams deliver safely, efficiently, and with a high level of quality.

In this role, you will work closely with the Project Manager, Lead Project Engineer, Superintendent, Safety Coordinator, craft teams, subcontractors, vendors, design partners, and clients. You will help keep project information moving, support schedule and budget coordination, assist with document control, and contribute to a safe, organized, and high‑performing jobsite.

The ideal candidate brings experience supporting commercial building projects and is comfortable working in fast‑moving project environments where communication, follow‑through, and teamwork are essential. Experience with hospitality and mixed‑use construction is strongly preferred.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Project Coordination
  • Assist the Project Manager and Lead Project Engineer with planning, coordination, and daily execution of construction activities.
  • Coordinate shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, field questions, clarifications, and document updates to keep work moving efficiently.
  • Help maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement logs, submittal logs, project files, and closeout documentation.
  • Review drawings, specifications, subcontract documents, and project requirements to identify conflicts, changes, or coordination needs.
Field, Safety and Quality
  • Support site and public safety, including participation in safety inspections and follow‑up on identified concerns.
  • Inspect assigned work for quality, safety compliance, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Track materials and equipment to support timely release, fabrication, delivery, and installation.
  • Work with the project team to maintain an organized, professional, and well‑coordinated jobsite.
Communication and Team Support
  • Build effective working relationships with owners, design partners, subcontractors, suppliers, user groups, and internal team members.
  • Work with the project team to prepare scopes of work, technical requirements, safety requirements, and bid packages for subcontractors and vendors.
  • Assist with change management by obtaining subcontractor pricing and helping assemble change quotations.
  • Participate in team meetings, project updates, and issue‑resolution discussions with a professional and solutions‑oriented approach.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two or more years of general contracting experience, with exposure to commercial building projects; experience with hospitality and mixed‑use construction is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of project schedules, estimating, submittals, RFIs, document control, procurement, change management, and closeout.
  • OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain it within an agreed‑upon timeframe.
  • Proficiency with construction technology tools such as Revit, Bluebeam, and project management systems.
  • Experience supporting MEP coordination and complex building systems is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to share information clearly across project teams and trade partners.
  • A collaborative, solutions‑oriented approach and a positive attitude toward teamwork, learning, and continuous improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work occurs primarily on active commercial construction jobsites, with office‑based work as needed.
  • Team members are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all company and project safety requirements.
  • Standard work hours apply, with occasional evening or weekend work depending on project needs, deadlines, or work‑related events.
TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS
  • Primarily local travel between our Bend office and Bend‑area project sites, client meetings, the Portland office, and industry events as needed.

  • Successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including drug testing, is a condition of employment.
