Job summary

Flambeau, Inc. is seeking an on-site Engineering role in Baraboo, WI to oversee tooling design, cost estimation, and standardization of processes across manufacturing. You will collaborate with design, production, quality, and purchasing to deliver optimized proposals for customers.

The role emphasizes plastics processing, mold/fixture design, and GD&T proficiency, with travel to customer sites and other Flambeau locations as needed. A 4-year degree is required.

Qualifications

• BS in Plastics or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Experience in Engineering Project Management preferred
• Experience in Plastic Processing and Manufacturing preferred
• Ability to read prints and support QE with layouts and GD&T understanding

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, engineering, purchasing, and sales to provide optimum customer proposals.
• Perform cost estimating during development and set standards for materials, processes and production.
• Manage tooling and fixture builds; schedule samples; document setup and processing details for molding technicians.
• Update routings and BOMs; oversee engineering prints and changes; ensure accuracy and reduce variances.
• Lead programs and provide status reports; propose continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
• Disposition product for MRB sign off and establish corrective actions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to establish standard processes meeting customer expectations.
• Establish quality plans (FMEA, Control Plans, WIs, Work Cells, PPAPs) and lead cross-functional teams.
• Travel to customer/vendor locations and other Flambeau facilities.

This is 100% onsite position located in Baraboo, WI.

General Summary

• Obtain information from the appropriate manufacturing, quality, internal engineering, customer engineering, purchasing, and sales associates to provide the optimum proposal to the customer.
• Perform all cost estimating functions during the development cycle, establish all standards for each job, from material to process to production.
• Place all new tooling & fixture builds and be responsible for all mechanical design functions and tooling program management. Schedule all samples and provide support at all stages of the process. Communicate and document pertinent set-up and processing information to molding technicians.
• Update routings and BOM’s to reflect engineering change requests; oversee updating of engineering print files & revisions to engineering prints, as well as reviewing and updating standards for accuracy and reducing manufacturing variances.
• Manage all programs assigned and provide status reports on all activities as directed.
• Provides proposals for annual continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
• Responsible to disposition product for material review board sign off and establish corrective action as required.
• Interact with manufacturing personnel to establish standard processes to ensure customer expectations are being met, and to provide ongoing support for production requirements.
• Establishes all quality plans for each part (FMEA’s, Control Plans, Work Instructions, Work Cell Layouts, and PPAP’s) and works as team leader with cross functional team to obtain completed documents.
• Strives to obtain continuous education & maintenance at high level of education related to current and new tooling, machinery, materials, and processing.
• Travel to customer and vendor locations or other Flambeau facilities.

Education/Certification Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Plastics or Mechanical Engineering is desired. Candidates with equivalent combination of education and business experience will be considered.

Experience Requirements

• Experience in Engineering Project Management preferred.
• Experience in Plastic Processing and Manufacturing preferred.

Skill Requirements

• Working knowledge of injection/blow molding process & materials preferred.
• Effective communication - oral and written.
• Understanding of mold and fixture design, build, and construction.
• Ability to read prints and support QE with layouts and GD&T understanding
