Job summary

Lewis Contractors is seeking a Project Engineer to support project managers and field superintendents on commercial construction projects. You will assist with planning, procurement, scheduling, documentation, quality control, and closeout to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role emphasizes collaboration, BIM support, LEED documentation, and active participation in meetings and RFIs to keep projects moving smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction-related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of Project Engineer experience on commercial construction.
  • Experience on projects valued at $10 million or greater.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and MS Project; familiarity with Primavera P6/Sage Timberline; BIM tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist PMs and Field Superintendents across project delivery phases.
  • Develop scopes of work for subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Review, transmit, track, and manage submittals and project docs.
  • Assist with RFIs, monthly progress billings, and payment apps.
  • Support LEED tracking, commissioning activities, and BIM support.

Lewis is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support Project Managers and Field Superintendents in the successful delivery of commercial construction projects. This role assists with project planning, procurement, scheduling, documentation, quality control, and project closeout while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Project Manager and Field Superintendent with all phases of project delivery, including:

Preconstruction & Procurement
  • Assist with subcontractor and supplier procurement, including pricing, scope development, and purchasing.
  • Support preconstruction planning and project startup activities.
Project Scheduling
  • Assist with development and maintenance of baseline schedules.
  • Update project schedules on a bi-weekly basis.
Contracts & Documentation
  • Develop scopes of work for subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Review, transmit, track, and manage submittals.
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure timely distribution to project stakeholders.
Change Management
  • Assist with pricing, preparing, submitting, and tracking Requests for Change Orders and Change Orders.
  • Maintain records of design revisions and distribute updated drawings to subcontractors and suppliers.
Project Coordination
  • Attend owner, subcontractor, foreman, commissioning, and project meetings.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Assist with Requests for Information (RFIs), including preparation, tracking, and response management.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly progress billings.
  • Review and process subcontractor and supplier payment applications.
Quality & Closeout
  • Support quality control efforts throughout construction.
  • Assist with punch list development and completion.
  • Compile project closeout documentation, including record drawings and Operations & Maintenance manuals.
Sustainability & Technology
  • Track LEED documentation, including logs, submittals, and photo documentation.
  • Support commissioning activities.
  • Provide Building Information Modeling (BIM) support on projects utilizing BIM technologies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of Project Engineer experience on commercial construction projects is preferred.
  • Experience working on projects valued at $10 million or greater is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project is required.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, Sage Timberline, or similar project management software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the USGBC LEED rating system is a plus.
  • Experience using BIM software such as Revit or Navisworks is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
