Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Project Director to lead Renewable Energy Hydro Project execution in a global EPC context. The role requires strategic leadership over project timelines, budgets, safety, and customer expectations, with extensive international experience and fluency in French and English.

The successful candidate will manage interfaces with customers, coordinate resources, and ensure KPI-driven performance across cost, schedule, and quality goals.

Qualifications

  • University degree in engineering.
  • 5 to 15 years of relevant power generation industrial experience.
  • 3 years of Project Director experience.
  • International project execution.
  • Large Construction (EPC) and site experience.
  • Fluent in both French and English.
  • Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including reference and background checks.
  • Unrestricted Canadian work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project execution strategy to achieve performance goals.
  • Represent GE to customer and manage interfaces and communication.
  • Set up resources and organize project team with clearly defined roles.
  • Monitor KPI's and take necessary actions to maximize project goals.
  • Establish and monitor Project Quality Plan, Procedures, and EHS Plan.
  • Define strategy for claim management and address claims.
  • Define Risk Management Plan and monitor risks and opportunities.
  • Oversee project from hand-over to completion and provide feedback to Sales/Functions.
  • Lead and coach the project team and set goals and development plans.
  • Develop and monitor Master Time Schedule and project float.

Job Description Summary

The Project Director will be responsible for management of Renewable Energy Hydro Projects. They will be responsible for driving Project Execution to maximize results of each Project with respect to Cash and Margin, while delivering Projects on-time, in conformity with Contract, and managing Customer expectations.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

The Project Director is fully responsible and accountable for the following activities:

  • Project Execution Strategy: Based on contract, develops and implements overall strategy for project execution to achieve project performance goals.
  • Communication: represent GE to customer; control and manage this interface and relationship. Manage internal and external communication loop.
  • Project Organization: Set up and secure necessary resources for project execution. Organize project team and ensure that team members have clearly identified roles, responsibilities, defined interfaces and are empowered within their scope of duties.
  • Performance Management: Constantly monitor and, if requested, report necessary key performance indicators (KPI's). Take all immediately necessary action and make decisions to guarantee financial, time, quality and safety performance to maximize achievement of project goals.
  • Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Management: Establish, implement and monitor Project Quality Plan, Procedures, and EHS Plan. Ensure best compliance within specification at lowest final cost.
  • Claim Management: Define strategy for claim management and direct actions accordingly. Address claims by determining and leading all necessary actions in consideration of the defined strategy.
  • Risk and Opportunities: Define Risk Management Plan. Constantly update and review risk and opportunities of each Project. Evaluate and determine actions that benefit overall performance of Project. Follow-up on implementation and results.
  • Project Process: Assume full responsibility for project from Hand-Over from Sales until all obligations completed at FAC and/or Hand Over to Service Sector (if applicable). Take necessary action to improve overall project process. Provides feedback to Sales and other Business Functions on performance of Project and processes.
  • People Management: Build, lead and coach a committed Project team guaranteeing the highest-level performance for each project. Define Project goals and objectives, evaluate performance against those goals and objectives, and provide performance evaluation and development plans to functional management.
  • Project Planning: Develop and monitor Master Time Schedule, manage Project float to ensure timely completion of Project

Qualifications/Requirements

  • University degree in engineering
  • 5 to 15 years of relevant power generation industrial experience
  • 3 years of Project Director experience
  • International project execution
  • Large Construction (EPC) and site experience
  • Fluent in both French and English
  • Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited, reference verification and background check.
  • Must have unrestricted Canadian work authorization

Desired Characteristics

  • Hydro electric industry experience is highly preferred
  • University degree in Business Administration, or equivalent commercial background
  • Background in contract law, claim management, scheduling
  • Legal and claim management Sales, Purchasing

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $132,200.00 and $220,400.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
