About Powerful Learning

The Powerful Learning team ensures all learners have consistent and sustained experiences of powerful learning, thus empowering them to thrive in an increasingly complex and technological world. Our work involves engaging in research that contributes to the field of learning sciences; designing solutions that define, model, and provide examples of evidence-based insights that support the implementation of powerful learning; engaging strategic partners and communities to co-design and advance powerful learning solutions; and mentoring leaders within the education ecosystem. Our team, alongside our broader organization, is well-positioned to respond to the emergent needs of the field.

About the Position

The Project Director, Evaluation Strategy and Analytics will lead the development, monitoring, and evaluation of the Powerful Learning team’s data strategies, evaluation frameworks, and performance metrics. A primary focus of this role is demonstrating the overarching efficacy of our work, research, pilots, and services through rigorous data frameworks, automated dashboards, and academic-grade reports. This individual will serve as a liaison to internal teams, external research partners, and funders to ensure alignment between strategy, operations, and outcomes. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in applied research methods, data visualization, and data strategy to elevate our impact on the K-12 community.

Responsibilities
  • Design theory of change and logic models that clearly map inputs, activities, and outputs to define KPIs, implementation fidelity, and ROI tracking across various pilots, services, and research initiatives.
  • Lead research design for the team, including the development of longitudinal studies and control groups to demonstrate measurable and sustainable growth and prove the efficacy of our general work and programmatic interventions.
  • Serve as the primary research liaison (e.g., for Verizon Innovative Learning Schools and other partners) to develop strategies informed by programmatic goals and outcomes.
  • Implement internal evaluation systems to assess program fidelity, implementation quality, and internal operational effectiveness for new pilots and ongoing services.
Data Strategy & Automated Dashboards
  • Develop self-serve dashboards (Tableau, Power BI) to monitor the organization’s performance, operational health, and key outcomes across all research and service portfolios.
  • Streamline and automate data collection pipelines utilizing SQL and advanced survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics).
  • Collaborate on data strategies for building extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) pipelines that are scalable, cost-effective, and capable of real-time reporting.
  • Ensure the compliance of all software and tools with Digital Promise's data security and privacy guidelines.
Statistical Analysis & Reporting
  • Conduct complex statistical analysis utilizing R, Python, and/or SPSS to measure the efficacy of pilots and services, and to identify broader educational trends.
  • Produce academic-grade reports and technical writing required for grant compliance and institutional stakeholders, supporting annual proposals and continued funding efforts.
  • Convert complex statistical findings into pitch-ready metrics and engaging visualizations for Business Development and Partnerships to drive organizational growth and showcase the impact of our work.
  • Identify performance gaps and leverage evaluation insights to inform the continuous innovation process across Powerful Learning programming and services.
OKR & Performance Management
  • Facilitate the development, alignment, and tracking of OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) across teams to ensure strategic objectives are achieved.
  • Monitor quantitative and qualitative performance indicators to support external evaluations and internal continuous improvement.
Project Management
  • Effectively manages competing priorities, oversees external contractors and leads projects with a strict focus on quality, timelines, and adapting to changing needs.
  • Proactively keeps stakeholders informed, mitigates risks, and motivates cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and advance Digital Promise’s equity goals.
Core Competencies
