You will manage stakeholder engagement across major transportation initiatives and coordinate with City Council staff and multiple agencies to advance policy and project objectives.

Position Overview: The Senior Project Manager, Transportation & Citywide Projects (SPM) reports to a Vice President of the Government and Community Partnerships (GovCo) team. The SPM will be responsible for managing stakeholder engagement for projects in the citywide transportation portfolio, as well as special projects as assigned. The SPM will serve as a liaison to City Council staff and develop responses to inquiries from elected officials and City agencies. The SPM will work closely with EDC teams to advise senior leadership on policy recommendations and to ensure EDC priorities and goals are included in transportation legislative efforts. The SPM will be responsible for generating outreach and engagement strategies to support projects important to the agency

• With guidance from the Senior Vice President or Vice President, the SPM will create public, elected official, stakeholder engagement, and multi-faceted communications strategies.
• Support a portfolio of cross-departmental or cross-agency projects, ensure external project objectives are achieved, actively monitor and track progress of public commitments and project goals to serve New Yorkers.
• Develop relationships with stakeholders, establish trust and a positive rapport. Ability to manage up and seek guidance on next steps.
• Lead engagement on key EDC projects such as the Greenway expansion. Planning/Transportation, Asset Management with the expanded Ports/Waterfront/Transportation portfolio including Aviation and Blue Highways. Responsible for public approvals processes across portfolio, and coordination with Department of Transportation as required,
• Create and deliver presentations, memos, and other materials for various audiences (e.g. CH, elected officials and stakeholders, internal NYCEDC staff, partner agencies, public hearings
• Assist the Grants Team with all transportation related grant applications, review scopes, develop grant Administrator required stakeholder engagement plans to support application & implementation, coordinate all letters of support related to transportation grants.
• Coordinate Red Hook specific engagement particularly related to traffic congestion, traffic planning, the Brooklyn Marine Terminal and the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Build and maintain positive working relationships with Red Hook stakeholders including the Red Hook Business Alliance, the Red Hook Initiative, the Tenant’s Association of the Red Hook Houses, and other Red Hook based stakeholders as needed.
• Continue to support the processes and procedures for the disbursal of the NYC Cruise Community Funds (BCT and MCT) working with internal teams, elected officials, fund administrators, and stakeholders to create clear rules and requirements for how projects will be selected for funding and how funding will be disbursed accordingly.
• Other duties as assigned, including providing project support for Government and Community Partnerships policies and procedures on short-term, interim, and long-term projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; political science, community planning or other relevant experience preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience working with elected officials, public agencies, and/or community-based organizations.
• Collaborative approach and experience working within interdisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated written, and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in industry initiatives, transportation, project financing, and/or land use policy.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and adjust as needed.
• Strong knowledge of the City, State and Federal legislative processes.
• Ability to travel within the five boroughs of NYC and attend evening and occasional weekend meetings. Valid Driver’s license preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• New York City residency (required within 180 days of hire).

Salary Range

$84,000 - $86,000 USD
