Job summary

The Superior Group, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, seeks a Project Development Associate to help identify, evaluate, and pursue electrical construction opportunities. You will coordinate pursuit deliverables, build relationships with GC’s, owners, developers, and industry partners, and support bids from start to post-bid follow-up.

Based in Columbus, this role collaborates with Preconstruction, Risk Management, and project teams to drive opportunities through negotiation.

Qualifications

• You have at least 1 year of experience in construction, project development, preconstruction, estimating, or business development.
• You understand construction bidding and project development processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Systems Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with electrical, mechanical, or specialty contracting.
• Experience with BuildingConnected or similar construction bidding platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop project pursuit deliverables including cost build ups and labor curves.
• Coordinate with Preconstruction teams to ensure estimates and deliverables are on track.
• Track and evaluate upcoming electrical construction opportunities.
• Support review and scoring of new project opportunities.
• Assist with prequalification efforts with General Contractors and Owners alongside Risk Management.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, scope alignment, and proposal presentations.
• Support post-bid follow-up and negotiation processes.
• Maintain accurate project pipeline, opportunities, and client information.
• Monitor market trends and new opportunities.
• Build relationships with General Contractors, developers, owners, and partners.

Position: Project Development Associate

Reports to: Director of Strategy & Project Development

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000

We consider several factors when preparing a compensation package for successful candidates.

Superior is looking for a Project Development Associate to help identify, evaluate, and pursue new electrical construction opportunities. This role will support project development and preconstruction efforts by coordinating pursuit deliverables, evaluating project opportunities, supporting bids and proposals, and building strong relationships with General Contractors, owners, developers, and industry partners. The Project Development Associate will work closely with our Preconstruction, Risk Management, and project teams to help drive opportunities from initial pursuit through post bid follow up and negotiation. This role is based at our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop project pursuit deliverables, including hourly rate build ups, general conditions cost build ups, long lead equipment tracking, and skilled labor curves


• Coordinate with Preconstruction teams to ensure estimates and other deliverables are on track for submission


• Track and evaluate upcoming public and private electrical construction opportunities


• Support the review and scoring of new project opportunities


• Assist with General Contractor and Owner prequalification efforts alongside Risk Management team


• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, scope alignment meetings, and proposal presentations


• Support post-bid follow-up and negotiation processes


• Maintain accurate project pipeline, opportunity, and client information


• Monitor construction market trends and new opportunities


• Build relationships with General Contractors, developers, owners, and industry partners

Your Expertise

• Required: You have at least 1 year of experience in construction, project development, preconstruction, estimating, or business development


• Required: You understand construction bidding and project development processes


• Bonus Points: You have a bachelor’s degree in Construction Systems Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field


• Bonus Points: You have experience in electrical, mechanical, or specialty contracting


• Bonus Points: You have experience with BuildingConnected or similar construction bidding platforms
