Location: Texas (Remote with in-state travel)
Compensation: $120,000-$180,000 base + performance bonus + potential equity

About the Opportunity

A fast-growing, well-funded renewable energy developer is seeking a Project Development Director to lead the development of community-scale and small utility-scale solar + battery storage projects across ERCOT.

This is a rare chance to join a lean, entrepreneurial team with backing from experienced investors and partners. You'll play a key role in building a pipeline from the ground up across Texas, working directly with senior leadership to shape market entry strategies, expand project portfolios, and drive deals from origination through NTP.

What You'll Do

• Lead full-cycle greenfield development of solar + BESS projects across Texas (ERCOT)

• Identify and secure land positions through partnerships with landowners and agents

• Manage interconnection strategy, site screening, and permitting with local authorities

• Collaborate with legal, engineering, environmental, and external consultants to ensure timelines are met

• Oversee project budgets, risk assessments, and milestone tracking

• Support strategic decisions around portfolio growth, financing, and partnerships

• Operate autonomously in a startup environment and contribute to building internal processes

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years' experience in solar or BESS project development (community or utility scale)

• Strong knowledge of ERCOT, including queue reform, POI screening, and congestion zones

• Proven success managing interconnection, permitting, and land acquisition

• Experience negotiating with landowners and coordinating across internal functions

• Self-starter comfortable with autonomy, ambiguity, and high-growth settings

• Based in Texas (Houston preferred, but open to candidates across the state)
