Job summary

Cenero seeks an assertive Project Designer II to lead pre-sales AV design efforts from our Columbia, MD office. You will develop scopes, specifications, and pricing in collaboration with the sales team, while traveling to regional customers about one day per week and maintaining customer relationships.

The role requires a technical degree and 4+ years AV experience, CTS certification, and the ability to work across teams to deliver a complete design package.

Qualifications

• Requires CTS certification and AV fundamentals knowledge.

• 2- to 4-year technical degree required.
• Knowledge of ICIA best practices.
• Experience installing or supporting AV equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job description

Cenero is actively seeking an assertive, problem-solver as our next Project Designer II working from our Columbia, Maryland office.

OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY

The Project Designer II is a customer facing position responsible for all aspects of pre-sales design activities including material specification, labor estimation, and scope writing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for interfacing with the Cenero sales team, and our customers, to develop a scope of work for AV services to be rendered
• Employee must work from the Columbia, MD, office at least 3 days per week
• Develop specifications for all materials and labor required to deliver the scope of work
• Collaborate with other Cenero teams to incorporate managed services as required
• Collaborate with other Cenero teams to develop subcontractor or special material pricing as needed
• Understand anticipated base building requirements in the AV scope, and communicate those to other members of the project team and customer as needed
• Collaborate with the sales team to identify and execute strategies to add value to the customer conversations, and to develop lasting stable relationships with our customers
• Respond to industry standard bid documentation as needed
• Attend applicable meetings, visit customer sites and conduct site surveys to gather necessary information
• Employee must be able to travel to regional customers and estimated average of 1 day per week
• Professionally represent Cenero to the customer and other project contacts and manage the customer’s expectations
• Stay informed of technology trends in the AV industry
• Contribute to departmental and company wide and best practices and procedure documentation and adherence.
• Complete design and engineering efforts for $4.5M of yearly revenue
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• Applicants should have a 2 or 4-year college degree in a technical field
• Applicant must have 4+ years of related AV experience
• Applicant must have knowledge of AV fundamentals and ICIA best practices
• CTS certification is required
• CTS-D is a plus
• Manufacturing certifications are required
• Experience with installing or supporting AV equipment is a plus

SKILLS

• Applicant must have efficient Excel skills.
• Applicant must have sound technical writing ability.
• Experience reading and understanding signal flow and architectural system drawings.
• In-depth understanding of acoustics, electrical wiring and control systems is required with a working knowledge of related products and test equipment. Must also have experience with the installation and use of such equipment.
• Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting advanced video and audio over IP systems and other network-based AV technologies.
• Ability to multi-task and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• Applicant must be able to handle the pressure of deadlines on a regular basis.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. COMPENSATION TRANSPARENCY

The total on-target earnings could range between $85,500 and $110,250. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range.

Individual pay is determined by different factors, including work experience, geographic location, job-related skills, education level, position specific technical certifications, and additional trainings completed. All Cenero health and wellness benefits will begin on Day 1 of employment.
