Job summary

Cenero is seeking an assertive Project Designer II to be based in our Columbia, Maryland office. The role encompasses pre-sales design activities, including material specification, labor estimation, and scope writing, with frequent collaboration with the sales team and customers.

You will interface with the sales team, develop scopes of work, travel regionally about one day per week, and contribute to design and engineering for approximately $4.5M in annual revenue.

Qualifications

• Requires CTS certification and 2–4 year technical degree.
• Minimum 4+ years of AV experience.
• Knowledge of AV fundamentals and ICIA best practices.
• CTS is required; CTS-D certification is a plus.
• Experience with installing or supporting AV equipment is advantageous.
• Manufacturing certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Interface with the sales team and customers to develop a scope of work for AV services.
• Work from the Columbia, MD office at least 3 days per week.
• Develop specifications for all materials and labor to deliver the scope.
• Collaborate with other Cenero teams to include managed services as needed.
• Collaborate on subcontractor or special material pricing as required.
• Understand base building requirements in the AV scope and communicate them to the team.
• Collaborate with sales to create value and build lasting customer relationships.
• Respond to industry standard bid documentation as needed.
• Attend meetings, visit sites, and conduct site surveys for information gathering.
• Travel regionally with an average of 1 day per week.
• Represent Cenero professionally and manage customer expectations.
• Stay informed of AV technology trends and contribute to best practices docs.
• Complete design and engineering efforts for $4.5M of yearly revenue.
• Other duties as assigned.

Cenero is actively seeking an assertive, problem-solver as our next Project Designer II working from our Columbia, Maryland office.

OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY

The Project Designer II is a customer facing position responsible for all aspects of pre-sales design activities including material specification, labor estimation, and scope writing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for interfacing with the Cenero sales team, and our customers, to develop a scope of work for AV services to be rendered
• Employee must work from the Columbia, MD, office at least 3 days per week
• Develop specifications for all materials and labor required to deliver the scope of work
• Collaborate with other Cenero teams to incorporate managed services as required
• Collaborate with other Cenero teams to develop subcontractor or special material pricing as needed
• Understand anticipated base building requirements in the AV scope, and communicate those to other members of the project team and customer as needed
• Collaborate with the sales team to identify and execute strategies to add value to the customer conversations, and to develop lasting stable relationships with our customers
• Respond to industry standard bid documentation as needed
• Attend applicable meetings, visit customer sites and conduct site surveys to gather necessary information
• Employee must be able to travel to regional customers and estimated average of 1 day per week
• Professionally represent Cenero to the customer and other project contacts and manage the customer’s expectations
• Stay informed of technology trends in the AV industry
• Contribute to departmental and company wide and best practices and procedure documentation and adherence.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• Applicants should have a 2 or 4-year college degree in a technical field
• Applicant must have 4+ years of related AV experience
• Applicant must have knowledge of AV fundamentals and ICIA best practices
• CTS certification is required
• CTS-D is a plus
• Manufacturing certifications are required
• Experience with installing or supporting AV equipment is a plus

SKILLS

• Applicant must have efficient Excel skills.
• Applicant must have sound technical writing ability.
• Experience reading and understanding signal flow and architectural system drawings.
• In-depth understanding of acoustics, electrical wiring and control systems is required with a working knowledge of related products and test equipment. Must also have experience with the installation and use of such equipment.
• Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting advanced video and audio over IP systems and other network-based AV technologies.
• Ability to multi-task and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• Applicant must be able to handle the pressure of deadlines on a regular basis.

COMPENSATION TRANSPARENCY

The total on-target earnings could range between $85,500 and $110,250. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range.

Individual pay is determined by different factors, including work experience, geographic location, job-related skills, education level, position specific technical certifications, and additional trainings completed. All Cenero health and wellness benefits will begin on Day 1 of employment.
