Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Fire Alarm Project Designer to design, engineer, and document enterprise-level fire alarm solutions with moderate to high complexity. You will support project execution and pre-sales efforts while collaborating with project management, drafting teams, and sales to deliver on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of experience designing enterprise fire alarm systems, experience with AutoCAD/FireCAD, NICET Level III or IV certification, and strong

Job Description

Seeking a Fire Alarm Project Designer to design, engineer, and document medium to large-scale fire alarm solutions with moderate to high complexity. This individual will support project execution, pre-sales engineering efforts, and collaborate closely with project management, sales, and drafting teams to ensure projects are delivered accurately, on time, and within budget.

Responsibilities include:

• Design, engineer, and document enterprise-level fire alarm systems.
• Support pre-sales activities by identifying, scoping, and estimating cost-effective solutions.
• Work closely with Project Management to ensure engineering deliverables align with project scope.
• Guide and mentor drafters to ensure accuracy and quality of engineering drawings.
• Monitor engineering resources to maintain project budgets and schedules.
• Partner with Sales and Project Management to identify scope changes and support customer clarification efforts.
• Review and interpret construction documents, including architectural and electrical drawings.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver customer-focused fire alarm solutions

Skills and Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of experience designing enterprise-level fire alarm systems.
• AutoCAD or FireCAD experience.
• NICET Level III or IV certification.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, architectural plans, and electrical layouts.
• Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and components.
• Experience with AutoDesk Design Review and Bluebeam.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong customer service and client-facing skills.
• Experience supporting pre-sales engineering and estimating efforts.
• Experience mentoring or leading drafting teams.
• Prior experience working with large, complex fire alarm projects.
• Additional life safety, fire protection, or systems integration certifications.
