Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Project Designer to join a dynamic team and help drive growth within a culture that values integrity and excellence. You will contribute to design production, collaborate with sales, operations, and customers, and help maintain project design standards across stages of development.

You will work with experienced designers to ensure accuracy and alignment with customer requirements while preparing submittals and managing documentation.

Qualifications

• College degree, trade school or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years engineering, field service or design project management.
• 3+ years AutoCAD

Responsibilities

• Provide design and drawing production for projects during development and as-built stages. Works with sales, operations, and customer teams to obtain electronic plans from engineers/architects/owners.
• Works from spots and dots, conceptual and/or schematic designs. Maintains Convergint design and submittal standards and adheres to industry codes.
• Reviews scope of services to lead design efforts for assigned projects and participates in internal design reviews and turnover meetings.
• Provides project team with documentation and graphics according to standards and project requirements.
• Organizes and maintains status and documentation of projects and coordinates with PM for design information and changes.

• Provides design and drawing production services for projects during the development and as-built stages of the projects. Works on projects of varying levels of complexity. Works with sales, operations, and customer teams to obtain electronic plans from engineers/architects/owners.
• Works from spots and dots, conceptual and/or schematic designs. Utilizes and maintains Convergint project design, documentation, and submittal standards. Ensures adherence to industry standards and codes as required.
• Reviews and ensures understanding of scope of services to be provided to lead / manage the design efforts for assigned projects
• Participates in internal design review meetings as coordinated by the Project Managers. Participates in project turnover meetings with both sales and project team. Provides project team with all documentation, programming graphics, etc. according to Convergint standards and project requirements.
• Obtains project design information as required from the PM.
• Communicates all design progress, committed completion dates, design scope revisions, and associated costs to the Project Managers. Discusses all anticipated overtime requirements with the Project Managers.
• Performs change-order work only with formal authorization to proceed.
• Organizes/Maintains Status’s and Documentation of Projects.
• Work with more experienced project designers making sure the design is accurate, as per standards and aligned with the customer requirements
• Prepares submittal packages according to project requirements or Convergint standards. Revises submittals as required to gain approval.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

What You’ll Need

• Excellent Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
• Customer Focus – Maintaining awareness of and seeking to meet of the needs and wants of the customer.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Able to solve problems and be proactive with tasks.

Requirements:

Education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience

Preferred Experience: (but not required):

• Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, building automation, and/or healthcare
