Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Project Designer to join our team and contribute to our growth. The role focuses on designing, engineering and documenting installed solutions with moderate complexity while coordinating with colleagues, vendors and AHJs to ensure code compliance.

Ideal candidates will have CAD experience, strong Microsoft Office skills and a college degree or equivalent. The position offers a collaborative culture and opportunities for professional development.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer and document installed solutions with moderate complexity according to project requirements.
• Proactively communicate with colleagues, vendors, consultants and AHJ.
• Identify cost effective solutions that meet customer requirements within the project schedule.
• Reviews scope, defined product specification, application and electrical requirements for code compliance and AHJ Requirements.
• Work assignments are varied, and of moderate scope and complexity.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

• Design, engineer and document installed solutions with moderate complexity according to project requirements.
• Proactively communicate with colleagues, vendors, consultants and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
• Identify cost effective solutions that meet customer requirements within the project schedule.
• Reviews scope, defined product specification, application and electrical requirements for code compliance and AHJ Requirements.

What You’ll Need

• Strong Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Customer Focus – Maintaining awareness of and seeking to meet of the needs and wants of the customer.
• Initiative – Engages in proactive behavior and looks for opportunities of improvement.
• Analytical Thinking – Logically breaks down problems and looks for solutions.
• Utilize CAD software to develop detailed designs, drawings, and project documentation, with design-related activities comprising approximately 80% of the position

Requirements:

Education:

• College degree, trade school or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years of experience with CAD software to develop design drawings, layouts, and project documentation.

Preferred Experience: (but not required):

• 1-3 years engineering, field service or project management
• Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, building automation, and/or healthcare
• Revit (BIM) experience
