Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Project Designer to join our team in a growth-centered, inclusive culture. You will design, engineer and document installed solutions with moderate complexity and coordinate with colleagues, vendors and AHJ to ensure code compliance and on-time delivery.

You’ll leverage CAD tools, Revit BIM capabilities, and strong Microsoft Office skills to create detailed design drawings and project documentation.

Qualifications

• College degree or trade school or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of CAD experience creating design drawings and layouts.
• Experience using CAD software to develop design drawings and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer and document installed solutions per project requirements.
• Proactively communicate with colleagues, vendors, and AHJ.
• Identify cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements within the schedule.
• Review scope, product specifications and AHJ requirements for code compliance.

• Design, engineer and document installed solutions with moderate complexity according to project requirements.
• Proactively communicate with colleagues, vendors, consultants and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
• Identify cost effective solutions that meet customer requirements within the project schedule.
• Reviews scope, defined product specification, application and electrical requirements for code compliance and AHJ Requirements.
• Work assignments are varied, and of moderate scope and complexity.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

What You’ll Need

• Strong Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Customer Focus – Maintaining awareness of and seeking to meet of the needs and wants of the customer.
• Initiative – Engages in proactive behavior and looks for opportunities of improvement.
• Analytical Thinking – Logically breaks down problems and looks for solutions.
• Utilize CAD software to develop detailed designs, drawings, and project documentation, with design-related activities comprising approximately 80% of the position

Requirements

Education:

• College degree, trade school or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years of experience with CAD software to develop design drawings, layouts, and project documentation.

Preferred Experience: (but not required):

• 1-3 years engineering, field service or project management
• Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, building automation, and/or healthcare
• Revit (BIM) experience
