Job summary

Convergint is seeking a Project Designer 1 to join our Norfolk, VA team. This full-time role focuses on designing, engineering and documenting security and fire alarm systems for enterprise customers, with emphasis on project requirements and code compliance.

Candidates should have 1+ years drafting experience with AutoCAD or CAD tools; strong MS Word/Excel; a college degree or equivalent; and a commitment to growth within a colleague-first culture.

Qualifications

• Education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years drafting or designing security and/or fire alarm systems for enterprise-level customers.
• 1+ years' experience utilizing CAD, AutoCAD, FireCAD or other similar design software's.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer and document installed solutions with moderate complexity according to project requirements.
• Proactively communicate with colleagues, vendors, consultants and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
• Identify cost effective solutions that meet customer requirements within the project schedule.
• Reviews scope, defined product specification, application and electrical requirements for code compliance and AHJ Requirements.
• Work assignments are varied, and of moderate scope and complexity.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
