Job summary

Perkins&Will in Seattle seeks an experienced Architect to lead design efforts across complex projects, from schematic concepts to construction documentation. You will mentor staff, contribute to client presentations, and participate in marketing and community engagement activities.

The role requires deep knowledge of building codes, BIM workflows, and sustainable design practices, with a track record of delivering design excellence within schedule and budget constraints.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline.
  • 8-10+ years of professional experience.
  • LEED GA within 6 months of hire.
  • Preparing for ARE and active involvement in AXP.

Responsibilities

  • Executes all aspects of the design process with adherence to firm goals and standards.
  • Prepares schematic designs, presentation drawings, models, and narratives.
  • Understands project goals, constraints, budgets, and schedules.
  • Evaluates design options per site and code requirements.
  • Applies building technology, materials, costs, and code knowledge to design.
  • Prepares client presentation packages and submissions for publications/awards.
  • Supports marketing opportunities and cultivates client relationships.
  • Reviews work for accuracy and compliance with the Project Delivery Manual.
  • Participates in internal and external design reviews and community engagements.
  • Mentors staff and fosters strong team performance.

Responsibilities
  • Understands and consistently executes all aspects of the design process and project complexities to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.
  • Prepares schematic designs that optimize design solutions and plans with responsibility for presentation drawings, models, and narratives.
  • Understands overall project goals and constraints, including client values, construction and design budget limitations, and schedule requirements.
  • Evaluates design alternatives based on site and code requirements.
  • Applies knowledge of building technology, building materials, construction methods, costs, and code to the design process.
  • Understands and responds to technical implications and design decisions.
  • Prepares client presentation packages, external publications, and award submissions.
  • Participates in marketing opportunities and develops successful client relationships for continuing business.
  • Uses graphic storytelling to advance the project delivery and scope.
  • Reviews work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
  • Participates and collaborates in internal design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups and external community engagements.
  • Demonstrates strong and effective communication and direction which inspires high team performance and design ideas.
  • Mentors staff.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline required
  • 8-10+ years of professional experience
  • LEED GA within 6 months of hire
  • Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation
  • Preparing for ARE and active involvement in AXP
