Job description

Responsibilities
  • Lead all phases of the design process with a high level of proficiency, expertise, and creativity, while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence.
  • Initiate and create detailed design concepts, developing functional requirements and project‑design criteria.
  • Exhibit understanding of and leadership in the architectural design process, integrating standalone interiors projects into cohesive concepts.
  • Lead interior design efforts and project teams, providing design direction and engaging clients.
  • Use graphic storytelling to advance project delivery and scope.
  • Participate in marketing efforts, lead design presentations to prospective clients, and develop successful client relationships.
  • Prepare client presentation packages, external publications, and award submissions.
  • Review work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and document compliance with the Project Delivery Manual.
  • Lead collaborative teams in design reviews, charrettes, and pin‑ups.
  • Demonstrate strong and effective communication that inspires high team performance and creative design ideas.
  • Mentor staff members.
  • Coordinate effectively with clients, partners, and consultants throughout the entire project.
Qualifications
  • BIM proficiency.
  • Knowledge of building codes and guidelines (ADA, FGI, etc).
  • Experience with programming, planning, and site analysis.
  • Ability to conduct preliminary design studies and produce contract documents.
  • Field observation and measurement skills.
  • Understanding of life safety requirements.
  • Specification of furniture and interior products, including bid packages.
  • Construction contract administration and cost estimation.
  • Accessibility and zoning analysis.
  • Documentation of living design data, including material health.
  • Advanced knowledge of 2D/3D production software; advanced Revit; conceptual modeling tools such as Rhino and Grasshopper.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Enscape, Vray, InDesign, Photoshop, and environmental analysis software (e.g., Ladybug, Climate Studio).
Licensure, Certifications, and Education
  • LEED GA within 6 months of hire.
  • Professional accreditation in one area of living design (LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, PASSIVE HOUSE INC. Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation).
  • Professional interiors licensure.
  • Bachelor's degree in interiors, architecture, or a related discipline.
