Job summary

Actalent is hiring a Project Designer in Harrisburg, PA, to develop architectural drawings across all design phases. The role emphasizes field surveying, feasibility studies, coordination with specifications, and construction administration support in a hybrid setting.

The candidate will have a minimum two-year degree and at least five years of design experience, with strong Revit and AutoCAD skills, plus proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, including BIM modeling for architectural projects.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD for drafting and detailing construction documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation, communication, and presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive working drawings across schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
  • Produce construction document sets and detailing that clearly convey design intent and support accurate construction in the field.
  • Conduct field surveying and document existing conditions to inform design decisions and ensure accurate project documentation.
  • Assist with feasibility studies and project planning support, contributing to early-stage analysis and concept development.
  • Support specification coordination by working with specification writers to align drawings and project documentation.
  • Provide construction administration support, including coordinating with project managers and construction administrators throughout the construction phase.
  • Meet regularly with consultants, alongside the project manager, to coordinate project requirements, resolve design and technical issues, and maintain project schedules.
  • Communicate clearly in both oral and written form, and speak effectively in public settings, including project meetings and presentations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with project managers, architects, consultants, owners, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Work independently on smaller projects, managing multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team on larger projects, contributing design ideas, technical expertise, and coordination support.
  • Apply knowledge of building codes and standards to support code compliance in design and documentation.
  • Participate in space planning, concept design, and architectural design activities to develop functional and aesthetically sound solutions.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail through quality control review of drawings and documents, helping to ensure accuracy and consistency across project deliverables.
  • Utilize BIM/Revit modeling and AutoCAD drafting tools to create and maintain accurate digital models and drawings.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications to prepare reports, schedules, presentations, and other project-related documentation.
  • Manage multiple projects or project components concurrently, balancing priorities and meeting established deadlines.

This full-time, exempt position is based in the Harrisburg, PA office and plays a key role in field surveying, feasibility studies, specification coordination, and construction administration support. Work Environment

This role is based in the Harrisburg, PA office and follows a hybrid schedule, with in-office work on Mondays and Thursdays and remote work on other days. Pay And Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $60000.00/yr.
  • Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
  • Health Benefits Multiple medical plan options are available, including: PPO plans with deductibles ranging from $500 to $1,650 per individual. HSA-compatible plans with deductibles of $1,000 and $3,000 per individual. Dental and vision coverage are included with the benefit elections. Employees who waive company health insurance are eligible for a $1,000 annual healthcare bonus.
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan Employer contribution is the lesser of: 10% of the employee's annual contribution, or 1% of the employee's annual salary.
  • Paid Holidays Nine paid holidays annually, including: New Year's Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Day After Thanksgiving Christmas Day Two Floating/Personal Holidays that can be used throughout the year with supervisor approval.
  • Vacation Time New employees accrue vacation at one day per month after two months of full-time employment, providing up to 10 days during the first year. After the first year, employees earn two weeks (80 hours) annually. Employees with 5+ years of service receive increased vacation based on tenure, with schedules showing growth up to approximately 15 days per year depending on role and years of service.
  • Sick Leave Sick leave varies by employee classification and tenure: Support Staff/Hourly employees begin with 2 days and increase with service. Professional/Admin/Sales employees begin with 3 days and increase over time. Executive employees receive higher sick leave allowances, increasing with tenure.
  • Leave Programs The company complies with both the Federal and State Family & Medical Leave Acts (FMLA).
