Overview
The Project Coordinator is responsible for executing the delivery of gas and electric services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This role requires a working knowledge of Gas and/or Electric Distribution Systems and the ability to manage projects from initial scope gathering through design, scheduling, and field construction phases—ensuring alignment with the customer’s desired timeline.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between Consumers Energy, customers, and external stakeholders.
- Provide timely updates on project status and maintain strong customer relationships.
Project Management
- Organize and prioritize small to large-scale projects based on customer needs.
- Manage project milestones and coordinate work assignments in response to work orders.
- Estimate customer and system loads and provide cost estimates.
- Identify required permits and schedule work orders accordingly.
Technical Coordination
- Scope projects and evaluate distribution design requirements.
- Analyze the impact on distribution systems and direct work order preparation.
- Coordinate prerequisites for successful project completion using innovative approaches.
Field Work
- Conduct on-site meetings with customers as needed.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems and recommend corrective actions.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly while maintaining organization.
- Understanding of the impact of procedures across multiple systems.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and independence in managing complex projects.
- Proficiency in computer-assisted drafting (CAD), SAP, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong computer literacy and analytical capabilities.
Educational Requirements
- Associate degree in a scientific or technical field (minimum 48 credit hours), OR
- Completion of two years of college coursework (minimum 60 credits) toward a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
