The Project Coordinator - Senior Artificial Intelligence Manager reports to the Artificial Intelligence Governance Lead within the Office of Digital Strategy and Governance at the New York State Department of Health. The role evaluates, monitors, and governs artificial intelligence models across the agency, overseeing the AI registry, conducting risk assessments, identifying ethical concerns, and ensuring responsible AI adoption. Responsibilities include managing intake and risk-scoring processes, reviewing vendor solutions, designing training programs, and representing the agency in AI governance forums.

Key qualifications:

• Seven (7) years of experience in artificial intelligence, computer science, data engineering, data analytics, or related IT field, with at least 2 years in artificial intelligence
• Advanced technical expertise in AI, machine learning, and large language models with relevant industry certifications (Google, AWS, Microsoft, IBM)
• Practical experience with AI governance frameworks such as NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001, SOC 2, or FedRAMP
• Strong understanding of AI ethics, bias detection, and data privacy regulations including HIPAA
• Proven ability to collaborate across IT infrastructure and business teams to integrate AI strategies with enterprise systems
