The Project Coordinator - Senior Artificial Intelligence Manager role reports to the Artificial Intelligence Governance Lead within the Office of Digital Strategy and Governance at the New York Department of Health. The incumbent will lead the evaluation, monitoring, and governance of artificial intelligence models, managing the agency's AI registry, conducting technical and ethical risk reviews, and serving as an internal consultant on AI adoption. The position involves developing AI governance policies, translating regulatory frameworks into operational guidelines, and providing staff training on responsible AI use.

Key qualifications:

• Seven years of experience in artificial intelligence, computer science, data engineering, data analytics, information technology, or related field, with at least two years in artificial intelligence
• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, information technology, or related field (may substitute for years of experience)
• Advanced technical expertise in AI, machine learning, and large language models with relevant industry certifications
• Practical experience with AI governance frameworks such as NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001, or SOC 2
• Strong understanding of AI ethics, bias detection, and data privacy regulations including HIPAA
• Exceptional communication skills translating complex AI concepts for non-technical stakeholders
