The New York City Department of Transportation is seeking a Project Coordinator for Safety Projects/Daylighting. This role involves planning and implementing street safety initiatives, with a focus on crash analysis and community engagement. To be considered for this position, candidates must be serving permanently in the title of City Planner, be reachable on the civil service list, or be eligible under the 55a program.
The Transportation Planning and Management Division (TPM) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working, and doing business in New York City. The division's responsibilities include planning, street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility and markings, and ensuring the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists. The Research, Implementation, and Safety Unit (RIS) is dedicated to making NYC streets safer as part of Vision Zero, using data-driven approaches for safety projects, programs, research, and policy.
RIS's Safety Projects and Programs team seeks an ambitious Project Coordinator for Safety Projects/Daylighting. Responsibilities include planning, developing, designing, and implementing street safety projects, especially 'hardened daylighting' at intersections. Key tasks involve crash analysis, project design, traffic data analysis, field evaluations, community outreach, and stakeholder engagement. The candidate should be detail-oriented, accurate, a team player, and possess excellent communication skills.

Preferred Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite; knowledge of traffic calming, urban design, pedestrian-focused design, complete streets, traffic engineering; excellent writing, editing, presentation, and outreach skills; valid NY driver’s license (must be maintained).
Additional Information: Candidates must be serving permanently as City Planner, reachable on the civil service list, or eligible under the 55a program.
