This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Lightwave Ave (San Diego, CA) and remote.
The Project Coordinator within the Department of Transformation supports the implementation and delivery of defined healthcare operational and strategic initiatives across UC San Diego Health. Working within established project scope, objectives, and governance, the Project Coordinator translates defined priorities into structured project plans, coordinates cross-functional work, manages timelines and dependencies, facilitates meetings, tracks decisions and action items, identifies and escalates risks, and drives work through implementation and closeout.
This position is intended for a candidate with an established foundation in formal project management who can independently manage the day-to-day execution of assigned projects and workstreams. The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience using standard project management practices and tools to organize work, maintain accountability, engage stakeholders, resolve implementation barriers, and deliver measurable results. While project sponsors and department leadership will generally establish strategic direction and initial scope, the Project Coordinator is expected to independently develop and maintain the structure necessary to move work from planning through implementation.
Projects may support system-wide growth and access, care delivery transformation, operating efficiency, workflow redesign, and other enterprise priorities. Because the work occurs within a complex academic medical center, candidates should demonstrate an understanding of healthcare administration and operations and the ability to coordinate work across clinical, administrative, and technical stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training. Related experience in project or program implementation within healthcare administration, healthcare operations, health system administration, or a similarly complex service-delivery environment including direct application of structured project management practices such as developing and managing project plans and timelines; coordinating cross-functional stakeholders; facilitating project meetings; tracking deliverables, risks, issues, decisions, and dependencies; communicating project status; and supporting implementation through completion.
Experience and proven success in organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized organizational interventions.
Has thorough knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized organizational interventions.

Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
Demonstrated project management experience within a health system, hospital, medical group, ambulatory care environment, or academic medical center.
Completion of a healthcare Administrative Fellowship.
Formal coursework, training, or certification in project management principles and methodologies (e.g., CAPM, PMP or equivalent).
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining standard project management artifacts, including project plans, timelines, status reports, risk/issue logs, decision logs, and action trackers.
Experience coordinating cross-functional healthcare projects involving operational, clinical, administrative, and/or technical stakeholders.
Training or experience in change management principles and methodologies.
Training or experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma, including application of structured problem-solving techniques such as process mapping and root cause analysis.
Experience supporting implementation of new or redesigned healthcare workflows, programs, services, or operational processes.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $90,600 - $166,400 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $43.39 - $79.69
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
