Job summary

BW Design Group in California is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Construction Practice. You will work with industry experts to deliver high‑quality solutions for our clients and grow as a professional engineer.

You will support capital projects, develop schedules and cost forecasts, prepare bids and safety plans, manage subcontractor invoices, and participate in on‑site safety and quality control activities.

Qualifications

  • Construction industry experience including project management (preferred).
  • Extensive PROCORE experience.
  • Experience overseeing the building/renovation of facilities in manufacturing industries.
  • Willingness to travel for project requirements including installations and client meetings.
  • A bachelor of science in civil engineering or construction management.
  • OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification.

Responsibilities

  • Support capital projects and assist in design/construction management of projects.
  • Develop project schedules, phasing plans, bid lists, punch lists, and notices to proceed.
  • Manage project budgets, cost forecasts, change orders, cost estimates, and invoices.
  • Prepare bids, scopes of work, and safety plans.
  • Conduct on-site safety reviews and subcontractor scope reviews.
  • Implement quality control program activities and prequalify vendors.
  • Process RFIs, bulletins, and submittals; participate in post-project reviews.

In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join our Construction Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.

  • Work under the supervision of a preconstruction manager, construction project manager, or site superintendent in the planning, design, and construction management of design/build projects
  • Become trained to support our site managers and construction project managers, and ultimately to move into such a role
  • Gain experience in the building of industrial structures in manufacturing, distribution, cold storage, advanced technologies, oil & gas, pharma, and food processing
  • Develop project schedules, phasing plans, bid lists, punch lists, and subcontractor notices to proceed
  • Manage project budgets, cost forecasts, change orders, cost estimates, and subcontractor invoices
  • Prepare documents including bids, scopes of work, and safety plans
  • Conduct on‑site safety reviews and subcontractor scope reviews
  • Implement quality control program activities
  • Prequalify vendors and subcontractors
  • Process RFIs, bulletins, and submittals
  • Participate in post project reviews
  • Make an impact day‑to‑day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team
What You’ll Bring
  • Construction industry related experience including project management (preferred)
  • Extensive PROCORE experience
  • Experience overseeing the building/renovation of facilities in the manufacturing of food, beverage, consumer products or life science industries
  • A willingness to travel for project requirements including installation and start‑up activities, client and company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, and conventions
  • A bachelor of science in civil engineering or construction management
  • OSHA 10- or 30‑hour certification

The expected salary range for this California‑based position is $60,000–$100,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and location.
